Now – for your viewing and listening pleasure please click PLAY below to look and listen to this radio in action!! Then scroll down below to finish reading all the details that makes this radio so exceptional! As you can hear from the video this FADA 790 sounds phenomenal with great selectivity and reception. There is no hum; Volume control is smooth with no scratch or pop noises. The dial scale is exceptionally clean with no rust or pitting. The dial light works well and lights up the scale during night and is bright enough to see in the day. The dial needle moves in sync with the tuning knob as designed and it is in good condition. This radio just got back from the shop and has been electronically restored by a professional radio restorer; all tubes were checked and tested strong, a new line cord was installed to replace the old crumbling one, all filter capacitors and paper/wax capacitors were replaced, controls were cleaned and lubricated, the chassis was lightly cleaned, and the cabinet and trim were lightly polished, it could use a little more detailing but looks amazing. There are a few tiny white specs of paint on the right side, hard to see in normal light, and the back had a phono input at one time, however, the full input mechanism does not seem to be intact any more this does not interfere with the playing of the radio in anyway. The back is fully intact original backs are hard to find! The radio was bench tested to ensure proper operation this radio is now ready for years of use! There is only very minor wear on the case, very hard to see under normal light, but given the age you may find minor imperfections and blemishes on the front, sides, back, top, and bottom of the radio. The original label is fully intact rare on this radio (so rare, reproductions are made to replace missing ones on other radios). The original cardboard back is intact. The line cord is not original. The knobs, dial scale, dial glass, back, and cabinet are all original. The cabinet is truly stunning. Not often found electronically restored and with a case this pristine. Original grille cloth is also present. FADA was founded by Frank Angelo D’Andrea in Bronx, New York in 1923 the name FADA was created using his own initials. FADA radios experienced rapid growth through the 1920s but the depression hit hard and it filed for bankruptcy in 1934. It was reformed and continued to sell radios through the late 1940s. Fada radios are desired by radio collectors because of their unique and stylish machine age designs known for their use of metal trims and unique plastics. We checked the online value site, Worth point and GOOGLE and found most of these models nowhere near the condition of this fine example. This radio is one of those rare opportunities collectors should take advantage of. This FADA is one of those rare opportunities collectors should take advantage of. And with Christmas right around the corner, it is also perfect as a unique gift for yourself or someone special! 14 wide x 9 high x 7 depth. I use plenty of Bubble Wrap, extra padding and double box or use extra box support material. It will be marked Fragile & This side up on the box to make sure it is handled carefully. The radio is fully insured. A small sampling of my feedback. Best packaging ever for a vintage radio – I really appreciate it. Fantastic radio as advertised, careful and thoughtful packaging.
