This receiver is in fair cosmetic condition. The cabinet has been repainted at some point, and the workmanship isn’t the best. The original paint wasn’t removed, so you can see scratches and such under the new paint. All controls turn smoothly. The chassis is clean. We didn’t not take off the bottom cover due to time constraints, but my guess is that it’s either all original or will have some new capacitors installed. So far, none of the equipment from this estate has been modified or hacked up, so I’m confident this receiver is no different. We’ve powered it up and the tube filaments illuminate, but no further testing has been performed. This equipment is part of a very large silent-ley estate we recently acquired, all of which has been in a storage unit for approximately 15 years. We have not done any testing beyond what is specifically mentioned above. There are a few reasons for this, but it essentially comes down to the fact that they almost always need some level of service and it’s simply not cost effective to pay our technician to spend time going through them. It may or may not need components replaced (caps, resistors, tubes, etc), controls cleaned/lubricated, alignment, and so on. Unless you are qualified and capable of working on this unit yourself, or are willing to pay a qualified individual to do the work for you, we suggest you revisit the idea of whether this is the right equipment for you.
