This is a gorgeous radio to look at. The distinctive wooden cabinet has rounded swept back corners and is made from striking walnut veneers. This is a working radio ready to play, display and enjoy – the big sound is clear and crisp with no hum. It is electrically sound. This radio was originally a battery radio, but a fairly expensive battery eliminator has been added to it and it now uses a regular household wall plug. The battery eliminator could be removed and used as an outside portable power supply on any other “farm battery” radio. Grill is barred and has the original cloth and it contains a big oval speaker. The wooden knobs are original and in good shape – the tuner works very smoothly. The Measurements are: across 17″ height 10″, and width 10. This radio will give years of good service. Every radio I sell has been thoroughly serviced – tubes tested, components checked and then the unit is lubricated and cleaned inside and out. The work performed can be seen in the pictures of the chassis and/or found in the radio description.

Restored Vintage PHILCO Model 38-14 AM Table Radio from 1937

It’s 1937 and the midst of a depression. However, the Lincoln Tunnel (NYC) opens to traffic, San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge is dedicated, Marx Brothers’ ” A Day At The Races” and Disney’s “Snow White” movies are released, Joe DiMaggio hits 3 consecutive home runs against St. Louis, Joe Louis is heavyweight champion, DuPont patents NYLON, 1st Social Security payments delivered during FDR’s second term as President, SPAM debuts as something to eat, the soap opera “Guiding Light” premiers on NBC Radio and PHILCO introduces the model No. These few perspectives highlight the historical age akin to this fine old Philco radio set. If you are looking for a restored old-time tube radio that can be played as often as you like and for as long as you like, please read on. Every effort has been made to offer a practically new radio, performing as it did originally, and to be maintenance free for quite some time. Restored to it’s original condition, this radio set is ready to bring another lifetime’s listening pleasure. You will be satisfied with this radio set because no detail inside OR outside has been overlooked in order to deliver “dependable performance” to it’s proud new owner. Key electronic components have been replaced. Anything else that was left are in excellent condition and show no signs of quitting. The exceptionally sturdy wood cabinet has been refinished in traditional manner using linseed oil varnish to bring out the texture of the veneers and impart a soft shine. If you look close at the photos of the cabinet top and sides, you can see the textured veneers. The cabinet measures: 11.5″ x 6″ x 8.5high. The original embossed gold station dial is present. The brass bezel style dial cover was polished and overvarnished to prevent future tarnishing. The electronics inside the chassis are in exceptional working condition. Radios from 1937 did not yet utilize loop antennas as they received their station signals from long aerials attached to the antenna terminal post on the back of the chassis. As part of this sale, I will include a 9 foot aerial wire. I happen to live within the greater NYC metro area where radio signals are strong and 9 feet of aerial was more than sufficient for reception. Should your experience be different, simply extend the wire. You may view what loop antennas look like by clicking on some of my other late 1940′s radio sets listed for sale. Yes, technology kept moving ahead from 1937. The so-called “Police Band” (2.3 – 8.0 MHZ) is obtained by turning the middle knob clockwise. Please don’t expect to find any Police transmissions on Short Wave as they have moved to other frequencies since 1937. There were some religious programming heard on short wave between 6 and 8 MHZ. This radio uses 5 tubes. All 5 tubes are ” new old stock”. The only mileage on the tubes is what were logged on during restoration and bench testing. The dial light bulb is new and rated at 20,000 hours. After the restoration, the radio was re-aligned (tuned-up) and plays just fine with the stations falling where they should exactly as seen on dial. Did I mention, the electrical cord is new. Altogether, a thorough, clean job. Check out the photos. This old Philco is heavy as it is constructed from wood and incorporates a heavy old fashioned chassis. I will double box using new cartons so that your new radio arrives undamaged in transit.

Restored Vintage BULOVA Model 370 AM & FM Table Radio from 1963

If you are looking for a restored 1960′s era tube radio that can be played as often as you like and for as long as you like, please read on. This radio set has been restored to it’s original condition and is ready to bring another lifetime’s listening pleasure to it’s proud new owner. You will be satisfied with this radio set because no detail inside OR outside has been overlooked in order to deliver both “dependable performance” and appealing cabinetry. Every effort has been made to offer a practically new radio, performing as it did originally, and to be maintenance free for quite some time. The ivory polystyrene cabinet is in excellent condition without any cracks and has been thoroughly cleaned inside & out and hand polished to restore it’s original showroom finish. In addition, the brass accent dial knobs have been polished and overlacquered to prevent future tarnishing. The original reflective front grille from 1963 is just spectacular. This model measures 12″ X 4″ X 5high. Also, the electrical cord has been replaced with a new polarized cord for safety. A thorough clean job. Check out all the photos. The electronics inside the chassis have been totally overhauled. This radio uses 6 tubes. All 6 tubes installed in the radio are “New Old Stock”. Included in this sale will be an extra set of NOS tubes. So, your go-to-go for some time to come. Please note: it is normal for the inside of vacuum tubes to appear burnt or mirrored. The vacuum inside a tube is achieved by burning metal inside the enclosed glass bulb which consumes the atmosphere inside the glass envelope thus creating a vacuum. This appearance is normal and not an indication of a defect. Following the restoration, all radio circuits were re-tuned to their specification using instrumentation. The realignment of radio circuits after replacing key components is especially critical on FM. Without correctly balancing this circuit, FM will play with various levels of sound distortion. Furthermore, the balancing circuit can only be performed using instrumentation. Consequently, moving the radio from side to side will change the reception. This is normal and not a defect. I have attached a 4 foot single wire antenna for FM reception. I happen to live within the greater NYC Metro Broadcasting area where radio signals are very strong. Depending on your geographic area, your experience could be different. Should you require better reception on FM, as part of this sale, I will enclose a brand new di-pole indoor antenna for you to use instead of the single wire coming with this radio. Thoroughly bench tested, this vintage BULOVA radio set is ready for it’s new home. I will double box using new cartons so that your new radio arrives undamaged in transit.
