Up for sale is a rare vintage WWII era Kapsch & Sohne, Wien German bakelite tube radio. This is another one that would fall into the German propaganda era tube radios. I believe this is the same as the 401GW Ingelen Elektrotechnische Fabrik Ing and the Super-Piccolo 1038L although this pitcular maker seems to be harder to find. This radio will have to be for parts or repair since I can’t get it to fire up. It’s in good cosmetic condition with the exception of a chip in the bottom left corner. Original cord and plug is in good condition. Back metal plate has some scratches scuffs and wear. This might be one of those that you’ll never come across again.

You will never see another one of these as clean as this one. It has been tested (although not fully tested) and seems to be working well. You will have to supply your own cables, etc because I had two of these with only enough cables for one. But the cables are easily obtainable. It also comes with a Philco Sierra power meter. The amplifier is in very good condition, completely original and unmolested. Both 4E27 tubes are present and also in good condition. You will have a hard time finding a nicer example of this amplifier. In this way, it was possible to maintain four full-duplex telephony channels through a single VHF radio link. The modulation method used was wideband FM on which four subcarriers were multiplexed, very advanced for the time. The method of subcarrier multiplexing was used all the way into the 1990s for telephony, after which it was replaced by digital packet switching. It is STILL used today for FM stereo broadcasting, albeit for only 2 channels. The AN/TRC-1 radio was introduced at the second half of WWII, was extensively used in Korea, and all the way into the 1960s. NATO allies have used the AN/TRC-1 radio up to the end of the Seventies. Frequency band used was 70 MHz to 100 MHz. A very cool find for anyone’s collection. All pictures are of actual item.
