This is their model A10865 and features a stunning dark walnut cabinet, attractive gold dial, bright green magic tuning eye and outstanding performance. Cabinet: The dark walnut cabinet is simply gorgeous! Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set with a stylish’step up’ solid wood top. The squared off right side, coupled with the rounded left side and large wrap around grill, reminds you of the classic Art Deco styles so famous from that era. It all comes together magnificently when powered up and the dial lights along with the bright green magic tuning eye. Quite a spectacular sight! Shiny brass escutcheons surround the tuning eye as well as the dial matching the brass Knight name plate adding to the elegance of the set. Grooved pinstripe inlays and dark walnut tones finish the cabinet off perfectly. This seldom seen beauty is sure to be the main attraction in any room of the home or office you choose to display it in. Dial & Knobs: The lighted dial is quite attractive. It features a gold background, chocolate brown numbers and letters and an ivory diamond design in the center. All letters and numbers are legible and show little signs of wear. Located in the top front center of the radio is a bright green tuning eye that opens and closes indicating signal strength. Both knobs are in perfect shape and control on/off & volume and tuning. Grill Cloth: The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring an antique gold color with a black wave / swirl design. Chassis: All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. Using the included copper line antenna the radio performs exceptionally well. The set provides great tone and plenty of volume. The Cabinets Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine.
