We offer Quality Antique Radios. To view our other antique radio auctions, as well as antique radio grill cloth. Here we offer a classic in early American radio history. An absolutely stunning 1934 Emerson model 32 mantle radio featuring a gorgeous Red Mahogany Ingraham made cabinet, dual back lit dials, superhetrodyne circuit (unlike many depression era mantle radios), elegant escutcheons, great Art Deco appeal, full wood back, and outstanding performance. The Red Mahogany cabinet is simply stunning. With its attractive curves, flared sides, and great Art Deco appeal it is easy to see why the Ingraham cabinet company was second to none when it came to elegant cabinet design. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set with an eye catching burl grain front. A large Art Deco grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. Jet black trim and a brass Emerson G clef name plate finish the cabinet off perfectly. The set also has its original wood back which still retains the brass Emerson patent plate. This little beauty is sure to turn heads no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in. The left backlit dial features the volume control and the right backlit dial features the dial scales. Both dials light nice and bright with a warm ivory glow and are surrounded by elegant brass escutcheons. Both dials display nicely, are legible, and show minor signs of wear. A couple hairlines on the volume control dial have been filled and secured. Both original wood knobs control the volume and tuning. The on off switch is incorporated into the power cord. The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a whiskey gold background with an Art Deco geometric design. All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. Quite impressive for a mantle radio! The Cabinets Finish & Restoration Process. Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. 11W x 8 3/4H x 5 1/2D.
