Emerson Q-157 “Clockette” This is the desirable white Plaskon cabinet version of the Emerson 157, with the “Q” chassis. The tubes are 6D6, 6C6, 25Z5GT and 25L6GT. It uses a resistance line cord that is rapidly falling apart after almost 80 years. When I got this radio the cord was in slightly better shape, so I did plug it in and slowly bring it up on a variac. All the tubes lit up and a very low hum came from the speaker. Turning the volume control caused a crackle in the speaker but it didn’t play beyond that. The Plaskon cabinet and knobs are in very good condition, the tuning control and dial pointer move easily as does the volume control.
