Vintage 1947 Northern Electric Model 5000 “Baby Champ” Waterfall /Rainbow Radio. Canadian radio with a beautiful shiny brown finish to it. The radio has been stored for a few years. I wiped it off before I took the pictures, but did not shine or buff it in any way. It has a beautiful pattina. The last two pictures I took when the radio was on. The tubes light up and it started to play shortly after being plugged in. The stations come in clear. The volume increased as it should when the on/off/volume knob was turned. The clarity of the radio was good. No distortion, the stations came in clearly and alot of stations came in – near and distant. Only detractor is a crack that starts at the top right of the tuning dial and crosses over to the right side panel. I took a close up picture of the area. The actual dial lens has some scratches also. The dial pointer is reiminiscent of an airplane propellor. The radio is quite attractive due to the front design that is either nicknamed Rainbow, or Waterfall. Dimensions: 10.6″ x 6.3″ x 5.9. Weight of the radio before packing is 6 1/4 lbs.
