Vintage Philips Bakelite Radio. Model # 140K, made in 1952 by Philips. Striking Art Deco design with a dark Bakelite. Body and knobs and amber/orange dial face. Tuning dial features old local Australian radio stations by state. Turns on, lights up beautifully and hums with an occasional crackle but that is all. It does not play music for an unknown reason, the tuning dial turns but does not move the tuner which means I cannot trawl through frequencies to test it. It may be that it could receive signals if the turning dial was turned to the correct frequency. All other dials work well, however, the far right dial requires a bit of torque to turn. Please refer to picture for condition of internal components. The body is in a good overall condition with limited scratching. There is a bit of fading to the white stripes and some newspaper stuck to the bottom (could be removed). The back wooden panel is damaged and there is rusting on the bottom left screw which holds it in place. A perfect candidate for restoration! Dimensions: 43 x 29 x 22 cm. Pictures serve as a large part of the description. Feel free to make your best reasonable offer. For other great antiques and collectables. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
