It is obvious that this little beauty was well cared for over the years, and probably rarely used, as everything is original and in outstanding condition. It features a stunning dark brown Bakelite cabinet, oversized Lucite wheel dial, large open grill, great space age design, loop antenna and excellent performance. The dark brown Bakelite cabinet is quite the looker. The transition from the Art Deco & Streamline eras to the Space Age is evident with its unique and modern design. Although the pictures show more of a black color, in person it is a deep dark brown with a subtle, yet attractive marbling. I have meticulously polished the cabinet to improve its original luster and shine. The only imperfection I can find is a tiny scratch here or there and only visible under close inspection and extreme lighting. As you can see from the pictures, nothing that detracts from the beauty of the set. The cabinet also retains its original label located on the bottom. The large Lucite round wheel dial is clear and free from any chips, breaks or cracks. A large brass star burst design graces the center. The knob set up uses the rear knob to turn the large wheel dial and the small front knob to turn on/off & volume. The tuning can also be done by turning the dial wheel which is what I recommend because the knob can sometimes slip when trying to turn the large dial and can also inadvertently readjust the volume since the knobs are so close in proximity. The original grill cloth features an ivory / cream color. It fits nice and tight, does not have any stains, rips or tears and shows no signs of sagging. Chassis: All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. Using just the loop antenna the radio performs very well. For such a small radio you will be surprised by the tone quality and impressive volume this radio has to offer. Dimensions: 10″ W x 6 H x 4 1/2″ D.
