This rare stunner looks amazing with its black Bakelite cabinet and sounds awesome after receiving a thorough electronic restoration. A great accompaniment for your new vintage tube radio! This model Is hard to come by, I was very surprised when I saw it Stewart Warner radios are famous for their engineering and designs especially their wood radios but their Bakelite and Plastic radios are not often found in this kind of condition. This radio is in excellent condition indeed. It has great reception and selectivity and the build quality is excellent Stewart Warner was known for its quality in their day. This radio is perfect for collectors or for an interior designer that needs a rare and functional display piece for that special clients office or home! It will go with any décor. It would also make a very unique gift for anyone including you! Get your own valid XHTML YouTube embed code. As you can hear, the radio sounds excellent, no hum and the controls all work as designed. The radio has had its electronics restored, the chassis was cleaned, the controls cleaned and lubricated, the case polished, and the tubes replaced as needed if weak, capacitors replaced as needed also. This one is going to create quite a stir as to find one in such good shape is quite uncommon and even less so electronically restored it also has its original knobs! Made in the USA – In Chicago, Illinois! By the Stewart Warner Corporation. There are minor imperfections here and there that are not easily seen particularly on the front center dial cap, and on various spots on the case there are imperfections and blemishes however, not easy to see and nothing too. Significant or that detract from the overall look of the radio. There is no dial light on this model though the reflective brite on the dial reflects the sun and can look like it has one. Knobs are present and original. Stewart Warner was founded as Stewart & Clark Company in 1905 by John K. They made speedometers for the Ford Model T. In 1912 John Stewart joined with Edgar Bassick to make vehicle instruments and horns. Bassick owned Alemite Co and Stewart had bought the Warner Instrument Company, thus the name was changed to Stewart-Warner Corporation. The company started in Chicago and built a manufacturing plant. The building kept expanding and finally covered one-million square feet and six floors. They made many products such as refrigerators and screw machines, and later scoreboards used by stadiums, however, they were very well known for their beautiful radio cabinets that they produced, especially from the 1930s, with attention to detail that few manufacturers could match at the time. Stewart Warner was also one of the biggest US suppliers / contractors to support the war effort during World War 2. Today Stewart Warners Radios are among the most sought after antique radios for their detailed designs & the scarcity of remaining models in good condition. Dimension: 12″ in length X 9 high X 7″ in depth. I use plenty of Bubble Wrap, extra padding and double box or use extra box support material. It will be marked Fragile & This side up on the box to make sure it is handled carefully. The radio is fully insured. A small sampling of my feedback. Best packaging ever for a vintage radio – I really appreciate it. Fantastic radio as advertised, careful and thoughtful packaging. If there are any problems, please contact me and we can review options. Old Antique Wood Stewart Warner Vintage Tube Radio Restored Working Magic Dial

We offer Quality Antique Radios. To view our other antique radio auctions, as well as antique radio grill cloth. The American Walnut cabinet is absolutely stunning. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. A waterfall top design, coupled with the top mounted speaker, reminds you of the Art Deco styling so famous from the era. It all comes together magnificently when powered up and the’Magic Dial’ comes to life with a bright illumination of an array of different colors. Quite a spectacular sight! Jet black trim and pinstripe inlays finish the cabinet off perfectly. You’ll be the envy of all with this beauty proudly displayed in any room of your home or office. Just look at that spectacular’Magic Dial’. Possibly nicer than the famous Zenith cube black dial, and definitely more colorful. It features a black background with red, green, and yellow colors representing the different bands and ivory numbers and letters representing station frequencies. The dial itself is behind a clear dial cover with two small slits on either side. Two new dial lamps are precisely placed beside each slit to illuminate the dial very bright. Quite a unique design, and quite a sight to behold! The Stewart Warner logo shows some distortion over the years but everything else on the dial including station frequencies and dial scales are legible and show virtually no signs of wear. The dial glass is clear and free from any chips, breaks, or cracks. All four wood knobs are in excellent shape and control the following; on/off/volume & subtle tone in accordance with the 2nd volume/tone knob, volume & high/low tone in accordance with the on/off volume knob, tuning, and band switch. The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring an antique gold. Color with a wave / swirl design. All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The Cabinets Finish & Restoration Process. Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. During the restoration process on this radio, a few veneer repairs were made around the grill bars. All have been filled and/or blended and do not detract from the beauty of the set. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. 13 1/2W x 11 1/2H x 9 1/2D. I sell quality antique radios and describe them accurately, as can be confirmed with my outstanding feedback. My radios are expertly packed using oversized boxes, many layers of bubble wrap, and several inches of packing peanuts surrounding each side of the radio so you can be assured they arrive safely. If your radio arrives and does not work please let us know. We will gladly walk you through the process of troubleshooting to get it started. The tubes, capacitors, resistors, and filters. However, if at any time these parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing the defective part at minimal cost. Finally, in very rare instances, if there is. If that is the case with your country, you assume the risk of any damage or undelivered package. Antique tube radio reception can differ greatly depending on location, length of antenna, and amount of interference in different areas. Playing capability is accurately described based on my location, surroundings, and hooked up to a 12 copper line antenna. The antenna will be included with the sale but I cannot guarantee reception quality in your area. It may differ (better or worse) depending on your location, surroundings, and interference. Antique Radio Electronics, whether restored or un-restored, are by nature hazardous due to their voltage, design and age. Any operation, repairs or other adjustments are done at your own risk. 1934 Vintage Tube Radio Stewart Warner R-1272-A Turns on, dial lights up. Dial turns all the way in both directions. The two glass tubes in the center/right area are lit up. The was a soft pop out of the speaker, but no signal heard. We’re happy to answer questions, but we don’t know much about this, so please be specific. Cabinet is in excellent condition tho wood could use some cleaning/polishing. Open back of radio means it’s been collecting dust. We’ve tried to photograph what you might want to see. Please scroll down to see all pictures. This was refurbished into working condition about 25 years ago by my father-in-law who was very knowledgable and did this as a hobby.
