Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. A waterfall top design, coupled with the top mounted speaker, reminds you of the Art Deco styling so famous from the era. It all comes together magnificently when powered up and the’Magic Dial’ comes to life with a bright illumination of an array of different colors. Quite a spectacular sight! Jet black trim and pinstripe inlays finish the cabinet off perfectly. You’ll be the envy of all with this beauty proudly displayed in any room of your home or office. Just look at that spectacular’Magic Dial’. Possibly nicer than the famous Zenith cube black dial, and definitely more colorful. It features a black background with red, green, and yellow colors representing the different bands and ivory numbers and letters representing station frequencies. The dial itself is behind a clear dial cover with two small slits on either side. Two new dial lamps are precisely placed beside each slit to illuminate the dial very bright. Quite a unique design, and quite a sight to behold! The Stewart Warner logo shows some distortion over the years but everything else on the dial including station frequencies and dial scales are legible and show virtually no signs of wear. The dial glass is clear and free from any chips, breaks, or cracks. All four wood knobs are in excellent shape and control the following; on/off/volume & subtle tone in accordance with the 2nd volume/tone knob, volume & high/low tone in accordance with the on/off volume knob, tuning, and band switch. The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring an antique gold. Color with a wave / swirl design. All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The Cabinets Finish & Restoration Process. Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. During the restoration process on this radio, a few veneer repairs were made around the grill bars. All have been filled and/or blended and do not detract from the beauty of the set. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine.
