This unit features a gorgeous, sought-after green finish that screams Art Deco and Early Mid-Century Modern style. Condition Details. Exterior: The cabinet is in remarkable shape for its age. There are NO cracks and NO burn marks on the housing. The original knobs and handle are intact. Functionality: The radio powers on! The dial lights up and the volume control is functional. It is currently picking up static/faint signals, but like all electronics of this era, it could likely use new capacitors to bring it back to full, clear performance. Note: The back cover is missing, revealing the original internal components and the loop antenna (stamped 8CW-334-2). Radio does have a new cord and in working condition, minor cosmetic paint loss which does not distract from the displayability of this collectible. This small midget sized radio measures approximately 8″ X 4″ X 4 and was known for its’American 5′ tube design. Clean backboard intact providing stat details. Step back into the golden age of radio with this beautifully preserved 1938 General Electric GD-60 Tube Table Radio. A rare gem of Art Deco design, this compact wood cabinet features a slanted front, dual thumbwheel tuning dials, five original push buttons and classic mesh speaker grills. The radio features a gorgeous Art Deco wood cabinet with a striking “waterfall” edge and contrasting grains. The thumbwheel tuners and push-buttons are intact and functional. The wood finish is in great vintage condition with a rich luster. The original dial scales are legible but worn off in some areas. Features the original vacuum tube setup. 13″ W x 8″ H x 7 D. Please note that the radio does not have an FM band as FM broadcasting didn’t exist in 1938 other than experimentally.
