This vintage tube radio is in very nice clean tested working condition. There are no chips or cracks to the case, and it has only very light wear for its age The cord is intact with no dry rot. The radio tuns on, and it gets radio reception. It is missing the button for the Bass. This came from the estate of a radio collector and may have been refurbished. Built in Chicago in 1939 for Zenith’s iconic 1940 lineup, this unit features the legendary Chassis 5678 Serial No. Tested & Working: The radio powers on smoothly and tunes into stations well. Audio Quality: Produces a very nice, warm, and clear vintage tube sound. Controls: Tuning dial, presets, and adjustment knobs rotate smoothly and operate as intended. Wood Cabinet: In nearly flawless cosmetic condition! The Art Deco horizontal louvers and wrap-around wood finish are stunning, showing incredible luster and minimal wear for an 85+ year-old piece. Grille Cloth & Dial: The original grille cloth is intact, taut, and clean. The dial face and glass are beautifully preserved. Flaws to Note: The rear wood particle backplate has a crack in it. The vacuum tubes used are “UY-227 x 2 / UY-224 / UY-235 x 2 / UY-56 / UY-247 x 2 (wired in series)” eggplant-shaped vacuum tubes all have no heater failures… For a total of 8 tubes (KX 280 series rectifier tube is missing).
