Beautiful, restored grundig 1060 hifi “zauberklang” tube radio produced in 1956. This is a german market version made back when the name grundig really meant something. Personally restored by me, doctorvoltz, a very experienced restorer, and was recapped, having all out of spec capacitors and resistors replaced as well as weak tubes replaced, new silicon diodes to replace the existing selenium diodes and all. Switches, contacts and tube sockets cleaned. It also has a new, bright green tuning eye tube installed as pictured. The radio plays beautifully with. That big, bose-like tone that these old german radios are famous for. As this is a german-spec model, it has the shorter european fm band which ends at about 100 mhz. You can see and hear it play at this youtube. The handsome bakelite and brass-accented case is nice and shiny with great marbling and was novus and brasso polished to make it glow, however it is not perfect. There is a repaired crack and hairline on the underside of the case which have been stabilized and strongly reinforced from the inside with military grade epoxy and fiberglass mesh. When the radio is in upright display position these repaired areas are not visible. As you can see from the photos, the radio still presents remarkably. Well from all angles.
