This radio set has been restored to it’s original condition and is ready to bring another lifetime’s listening pleasure to it’s proud new owner. You will be satisfied with this radio set because no detail inside OR outside has been overlooked in order to deliver both “dependable performance” and appealing cabinetry. Every effort has been made to offer a practically new radio, performing as it did originally, and to be maintenance free for quite some time. The exceptionally sturdy cabinet has been refinished in traditional manner using linseed oil varnish to bring out the texture of the veneers and to impart a soft shine. It is offered for sale today in like manner. In an effort to prevent future tarnishing, the brass escutcheon was polished and over-lacquered before installing a new dial cover. Lit up, the original station dial is just spectacular! Albeit, this model has physical presence which is not fully appreciated from the attached photographs. The electronics inside the chassis are in superb working condition after a thorough overhaul. The end result is an old fashioned tube radio set giving excellent reception across the dial on both bands. SW comes in like gang busters and covers 5.8 – 17.5 MHZ; though, most of the activity is between 10 and 16 MHZ these days. This receiver uses 5 tubes. All 5 tubes are “new old stock”. In addition, this radio set utilizes a resistor tube (so called Ballast Tube) which is the tall black tube standing by itself on top of the chassis. It pulls in and out of a radio chassis just like a radio receiver tube, but it’s job is to absorb excess voltage that the radio tubes themselves don’t require to play. It is also “new old stock” and doesn’t wear out like the radio receiver tubes do. This Westinghouse receiver doesn’t have a loop antenna for reception. Thoroughly bench tested, this radio set is ready fir it’s new home. So, if you’re seeking both dependability as well as classic styling in a restored wood cabinet radio from 1940, you’ve come to the right place. I will double box using new cartons so that your new radio arrives undamaged in transit.
