Vintage Homebrew Geloso G. 4/102 VFO Amateur Tube Radio Transmitter – Untested. Offered is a vintage custom-built amateur (“homebrew”) tube radio transmitter believed to date from the mid-1950s to early 1960s. The centerpiece of this unit is the highly desirable Geloso G. 4/102 Variable Frequency Oscillator (VFO) tuning assembly, one of the most recognized amateur radio tuning systems of the era. The large illuminated-style frequency dial covers the classic HF amateur bands including 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters, making it immediately recognizable to vintage ham radio collectors. Unlike factory-produced equipment, this is a hand-built amateur radio project assembled using quality period components, including a Lafayette milliamp meter, heavy steel chassis, multi-position controls, and the original Geloso tuning mechanism. During the 1950s and 1960s many experienced radio operators built their own transmitters around Geloso VFO units because of their excellent frequency stability and performance. Every homebrew radio is unique, making surviving examples increasingly collectible. No attempt has been made to power the unit. Cosmetic wear consistent with age. Scratches, oxidation and paint wear present. Appears to be missing one front-panel control/component. Exact builder and circuit configuration are unknown. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are part of the description. 4/102 VFO tuning assembly. Classic amateur radio frequency coverage. Large analog frequency dial.
