Russian Soviet USSR Vintage Tube Radio Zvezda-54

The radio network lamp “Zvezda-54″ from the II quarter of 1954 was produced by the Kharkov Kommunar plant and the Moscow factory Mospribor. The release of the radio was a significant event of the mid-fifties in the USSR. The receiver did not fit into the usual line of models of dull and gray receivers and radios in wooden cases, like twins similar to each other and not changing in appearance for years. The media, mainly in newspaper and magazine publications of those years, very effectively described the appearance of the radio receiver Zvezda-54 as a huge breakthrough in design design, as the latest peep of fashion, which gave people hope for a new, bright life. In fact, everything was much simpler and more prosaic. The radio receiver “Zvezda-54″ in its external design is a complete copy of the French radio receiver “Excelsior-52″ of the 1952 release. It is not clear how the French receiver got to IRPA. According to some reports, diplomats who visited France in 1952 on the issue of Austria’s independence brought it as a gift. Another touch that relates to the release of the radio receiver: In the postwar years, the government of the USSR adopted a decision providing for the production by the defense enterprises of the USSR, together with special products, of consumer goods. In accordance with this, since 1952, the All-Union Scientific Research Institute for Broadcast Acoustics and Acoustics named after AS Popov, abbreviated “IRPA”, together with the plant “Kommunar” (Kharkov, Ukraine) began the development and preparation of the conveyor, to serial production radio receiver” Star-54”. In 1954, the production of the receiver was simultaneously transferred to the Mospribor plant (the former bicycle factory). In the third quarter of 1954, the radio was upgraded. Modernization fell on the chassis of the model, which became vertical, to facilitate the technological processes and expand the color range of the case (red and green, there were no other colors). Both versions, modernized and common in cases of two colors, produced both plants in parallel, but much more was produced in the red case. In all, and the model was produced from 1954 to 1959, two plants produced 674,000 receivers of “Zvezda-54″. Often confusing is the IS logo on the back cover or in the instructions of the device. ISH is a product of consumer goods. The radio receiver “Zvezda-54″ was developed by the Institute of Broadcast Reception and Acoustics “IRPA” MRI of the USSR. It has an unusual, attractive appearance, considered the limit of perfection of designers (decorators) of those years. The radio receiver body is stamped out of metal, using nickel plating and multilayer varnishing. The receiver is a seven-lamp superheterodyne of the 2nd class, assembled on radio tubes of the type 6A7, 6Zh3P (2 pcs), 6X2P, 6P1P, 6E5S and 6C4P and operates in 5 ranges: DV – 150… 410 kHz, SV – 520… 1600 kHz, KB1 – 6,13… 7.34 MHz, KB2 – 9.5… 12.1 MHz and survey KB3 – 3.95… The sensitivity in DV, SV 200, KB 300 uV. The selectivity for the adjacent channel is 26 dB, by the mirror 36 dB in the CB, DV and 12 dB bands in the HF subbands. The rated output power is 1.5W. The range of reproduced audio frequencies is 150… Power supply from the network 127 or 220 volts. Power consumption 60 W. The receiver’s dimensions are 530320180 mm.
