1945 Westinghouse H-125′Little Jewel’ Tube Radio. In 1945 Westinghouse advertised their’Little Jewel’ series of radios as having a power and tone that you’ll have to hear to believe. It’s a phrase that still holds true today. Incredibly strong audio from this uniquely designed set. Known among collectors as a’refrigerator’ radio, this gem is in a class all its own due to its unique shape and appearance. The beautifully bold wrapped brass center with a fold away handle is the perfect centerpiece for the powder blue cabinet. Accented by dark hunter green knobs and handle which compliment the color so wonderfully. Repainted to the historically accurate color and then meticulously hand detailed and hand polished to a brilliant factory fresh luster. It measures 9″ tall (without handle extended) X 5 1/2″ wide. This is a fully restored and working radio that is ready to play, display and enjoy for years to come. In the interest of safety, performance and reliability ALL paper, wax and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with modern day equivalents. Any resistors testing out of their allotted tolerance have been replaced. Every tube was tested and replaced if found to be under performing. Voltages are checked against the manufacturers specs. All moving parts are lubricated for smooth operation. A brand new power cord is added to replace the unsafe and brittle original. The signal strength is then aligned to factory specs to provide peak performance. Lastly, the set is then put through its paces by bench testing it for a minimum of 48 hours to ensure reliability and to allow for a proper’burn in’ period for new components. As a result of this entire restoration process, the set performs clearly, strongly and with that unmistakable tube driven sound. No cracks or breaks. Repainted and restored back to it’s original and historically accurate color (no modern hot rod paint schemes). After repainting, the cabinet was then abrasively hand polished through a labor intensive 12 step process (no cream polishes or auto compounds) to remove all orange peel texturing, leaving behind an incredibly smooth and reflective surface. This is a multi-step process. One small area of light wear on the very bottom front right as well – again, very minimal. The brass has also been hand polished to a brilliant mirror-like reflectivity. Even the left and right brass cabinet screws have been polished, leaving no detail ignored. The brass shows some light brush-like scratching here and there which is conducive to age and use. The fold down handle is in excellent shape. The grille cloth is original to the set and is complete without tears or rips. With each of my professionally polished radio cabinets I invest significant time and attention to detail in order to bring you a radio that is worth displaying in your prized collection or proudly accenting your home or office decor. No shortcuts are taken. Quality is the end goal. Knobs & Dial Scale. The knobs and handle provide for an excellent contrast to the powder blue cabinet. Dark hunter green in color, each has been hand detailed and hand polished to a fresh factory original luster with no chips, cracks or breaks. The rotating dial scale is in excellent condition and all numbers are easy to read and without flaking or fading. Both the dial scale and the plastic green’W’ jewel indicator illuminate beautifully when the set is powered on. Please view all 12 photos.
