The model number on this stunning looking radio is 51T56 & I believe it was produced in the 1948 era. This was a nice radio when it was introduced in 1940′s & still is by today’s standards. The cabinet on this beauty is made of Maple I believe & was refinished by a previous owner. The finish on the cabinet looks great as I hope my pictures will show. This is a nice looking radio that just POPS OUT AT YOU. I that I have taken many pictures & all pictures can be supersized so you may get a good view at this spectacular looking & working radio. The reversed painted glass slide rule dial scale is in good condition but it does has some wear. The 2 brown bakelite plastic control knobs are in great condition. The original paper label on the bottom of the cabinet is in good condition. The back panel is original & in good condition that holds on tight & secure PROVIDED you handle the radio correctly & DO NOT Grab it by the back panel. The chassis is in great condition & it is an all American 5-tube unit with 2-controls & both controls have been lubricated & are in great working condition. The chassis has had all new electrolytic capacitor/filters installed & wax/paper capacitors were replaced as needed & a nice electric cord has been installed. This radio has been restored to great working condition. This Radio would make an excellent addition to your radio collection or as a stand alone radio as it’s power & beauty will surely be the talk of the room by all whom enter. Sized of this gem is 12-1/4″ long, 7″ wide & 8-1/2 high. This is a vintage radio & must be handled & cared for & treated in this manor & not like a modern day boombox. Tube radio technology “unlike modern day solid state radios” can have interference/noise in the sound quality, caused by kitchen appliances, computer monitors, flat screen TV’S, florescent lights, washing machines, high power wires above your home, etc… So where you position/place this radio in your home can make a huge difference & the direction/position it is set in. A lot of tube radios are directional meaning you “may” have to turn the radio one way or the other to receive the best reception. Tube radios take 30 to 45 seconds “for tubes” to warm up before they will start playing. I package very well for a safe arrival. If you have any questions please ask & I will promptly answer & as best as I can. Please ask questions before the end of the sale & not after. Thanks for looking I appreciate it. Here is the Antique Stewart Warner Radio Speaker with the Dancing Ladies. I had though about repurposing this one and putting 2 or 3 small colored lights inside for a neat background, but never got around to doing it. I like the worn speaker cloth look on the front with that idea. And actually one could do it without any alteration to the speaker itself which would be best. If you prefer though you could easily put it back with the thin speaker cloth and use it as a speaker. It is missing its cord, which is not big deal to replace. It is untested, but I would be surprised if it would not work. These speakers are quite heavy. The radio powers on with some static and I was able to tune in several stations here in central Indiana. All of the functions seem to be working as they should be. The antenna connection may need some adjustment or it may need some minor TLC to improve the reception. This radio features a pretty cool mid-century look and feel. The plastic cabinet is nice and solid and the colors still pop. There are a few minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era, including a small chip on the front/right cabinet edge. I do not have the proper equipment to fully test the radio/tubes. Please preview all of the pictures as they will best help show the cosmetic condition. Also, please ask any & all questions ahead of time. The item “VTG (1950) Stewart Warner 9151-A AM/FM Tube Radio Receiver It Works” is in sale since Wednesday, April 22, 2020. This 1937 gem has excellent craftsmanship and style. The cabinet is a combination of wood solids and veneers, including the Birdseye maple inlays. Since the speaker is side mounted, the full face display really stands out, especially with the unusual three dimensional stepped dial face, which is in excellent condition. The brass bezel has been polished to its original shine and is the focal point of the radio. It not only looks charming, it sounds good too. With five tubes, it has very good sensitivity, selectivity and reception. It also has tone control for your listening preference. S with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. The cabinet was stripped of the old varnish and lacquer, keeping the original stain. It was then nourished and rejuvenated and the bottom trim was redone with brown mahogany toner. The entire cabinet was then given seven coats of clear lacquer with excellent results. There was a small corner of veneer missing from the front left side top that has been repaired and is barely noticeable and a very small chip to the left front edge. None of those detract from the overall excellent appearance of the radio. The dial face is in excellent condition with crisp and clear graphics that are nicely lighted. The original dial cover has been polished and is in very good condition. The bezel is in excellent original polished condition. He knobs are original and have been given the same treatment as the cabinet. The grill cloths have been replaced with a beautiful design that is representative of the era. There is only one speaker. It is on the left side- the other side has none, as was the original design of the radio The power cord was replaced. Please note the original wood back cover, which is in excellent, non-refinished condition. It was cleaned and polished and still looks gorgeous after all these years. It still has Stewart Warner’s “Craft Built” metal tag, which was competing with the craftsmanship of other radios that used the well known Ingraham cabinets. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the nine foot external antenna (provided). This is a rare radio with a very appealing presence and it. Certainly demands a place of distinction. Just imagine all of the news of the world, music and stories this wonderful radio has broadcast. Now 83 years old and newly restored inside and out, it will continue to provide many more years of reliable enjoyment if well cared for. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off.
