This is wonderful art deco style Zenith case portable radio with plug and original battery that was part of a collection that we acquired. It has the waveguide antenna and the external cable with suction mounting cup. The original Instruction folder is are safely stored in the back, but shows a bit of heat damage. When we put a powered up the radio with the cord, we could hear static as the volume was adjusted but we couldn’t get the tuning needle to work. When I opened the back, I could manipulate the knob and feel some play so I assume the cord that connects the knob shaft to the tuner may be worn. I didn’t play with it much further. It may just be the radio reception isn’t good here, but it might be a bigger issue, so it’s a project radio. It also needs a cord replacement as there are bare wires. There is a minor wear on the original case, but the remainder is in good shape This radio measures 15″ x 6″ x 10. Silvertone 6230 tube radio with tuning eye. His desirable Silvertone does power on and it receives stations. The sound quality is decent but it could definitely benefit from being electronically serviced as the electronics are old and there is a background hum. The electronics do appear to be original. The tuning eye does work, opening and closing as stations are being tuned in but it is very dim. The original finish does show some wear and blemishes, mostly on the top surface of the radio. This wear to the finish is just honest patina and it is not too disappointing. The cabinet is structurally sound with no damage. This really is a beautifully styled radio that is similar to the Ingraham designed models from Emerson. This Silvertone may be far from being in collector quality condition, but it is a working survivor that does display well. If you have any questions or need additional pictures, please ask.
