Rare emerson cl256 violin stradivarius radio deco 1939 vintage. For sale is a rare emerson model cl256 model radio known as the stradivarius or violin radio. Emerson made these in 1939 in various different woods. This one is walnut. This radio has just been removed from 20 years in storage. It currently lights up when turned on and there is a little intermittent speaker crackle as the station knob is turned but no clear signal. All glass tubes with visible element show glow on top. The knobs both twist properly. The station dial turns but the plastic cover in the small window showing the station numbers has come loose and is also discolored. It is included but was removed for photos. The wood is overall in very good to excellent condition. There is very small edge damage along the upper right front edge of the enclosure. It is shown in the photos. It is very minor but should be noted. There is no back cover to the radio. The power cord is in excellent condition. The paper label on the bottom shows some damage. The inside of the radio was removed for photos. I gently wiped some of the dust off of the parts. Of the 5 tubes, 4 are tung-sol and one is sylvania. The wood finish of the radio is very nice with some light age crackle. There is wear to the emerson logo on the front of the case between the knobs. This radio is serial # cl-2420507. Please take a close look at the photos to avoid any surprises. I have lots of them.
