This is a nice 1946 Crosley 66TC radio known as the “American Overseas”. Cabinet has the original finish and apart from one very small repair in the veneer on the right side, it is in very nice original condition. The electronics were serviced several years ago with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced, and the radio plays well. There is some noise when tuning, most likely due to a dusty tuning capacitor. The radio has been on a shelf on display for several years. I believe the speaker was replaced in the distant past, possibly when the radio was fairly new. The Vintage 1940′s Crosley American Tube Radio 66TC with restored electronics and input jack is a collectible piece of history originating from the United States. This classic radio, with its iconic Crosley brand, embodies the nostalgia and charm of mid-20th century American design. Perfect for collectors or enthusiasts of vintage radios, it offers a unique blend of retro aesthetics and modern functionality, making it a valuable addition to any collection.

This SONORA Radio has been restored to good working condition. Sized of this Fabulous GEM is 10-3/4″ Long, 6-1/2″ Wide/Deep & 7-1/4 High. This is a vintage radio & must be handled & cared for & treated in this manor & not like a modern day boombox. Tube radio technology “unlike modern day solid state radios” can have interference/noise in the sound quality, caused by kitchen appliances, computer monitors, flat screen TV’S, florescent lights, washing machines, high power wires above your home, etc… So where you position/place this radio in your home can make a huge difference & the direction/position it is set in. A lot of tube radios are “Directional” meaning you ” MAY ” have to turn the radio one way or the other to receive the best reception. Tube radio usually take 30 to 45 seconds after they have been turned/powered ON before they will start playing as the tubes have to warm up. I package very well for a safe arrival. If you have any questions please ask & I will promptly answer & as best as I can. Please ask questions before the end of the sale & not after. Thanks for looking I appreciate it.

Ere is something that is a very scarce commodity in a vintage Bakelite radio – the Bakelite is JET BLACK. You just don’t see this colour. This is Zenith model 5H11 Consol-tone radio, due to its shape it is commonly called the Racetrack mode – very unique styling. This is a working radio ready to play, display and enjoy – the sound is very good with no hum. The black Bakelite case is in very good shape – shiny and has no crack chips or dings. As with all my radios it is electrically sound – the tubes are strong and the new cord has a a polarized plug. All of the he original wax and paper capacitors have been replaced. This radio is in good condition. It features: racetrack body bullet shaped at each end, with a very distinctive grill cover with the Zenith logo – the metal plate shows normal wear. The Z at the top lights up when it is turned on, it has its original back, large knobs and loop antenna and pointed feet. It is a good sized radio, the case measures 14″ across, 7″high, and 7 wide and it will give years of good service. Every vintage tube radio I sell has been thoroughly serviced – tubes tested, components checked and then the unit is lubricated and cleaned inside and out. The work performed can be seen in the pictures of the chassis and/or found in the radio description.

Vintage 1949 Philco Transitone Model 49-500 Vacuum Tube Radio Code-121 restored. This beautiful 1949 Art Deco walnut Bakelite vacuum tube table radio comes from a non-smoking environment and has no foul odors or nicotine residue. It has been electronically restored and is safe and stable to use. It has been given a new life and should last for another 76 years. The radio has been kept as original as possible with the exception of the tubes that were replaced and the electronic components used to restore the circuitry. It has an internal built-in loop antenna that that provides good strong reception, eliminating the need for an external antenna wire and plays loud and clear. The chassis has no rust or corrosion and the Walnut colored Bakelite case is clean and shiny. The case has some light scuffs as to be expected, but is in overall excellent condition. Note: There is a small crack in the lower left side of the case, which has been professionally repaired from the inside with high-strength clear epoxy and fiberglass screening. It’s barely visible (see pics) and is now actually stronger than before! The dial scale window is clean, transparent and clear with no yellowing or opaque hazing. The speaker is in excellent condition and sounds loud and clear. The original back-board was missing (as with most of these old radios), however, a new one was hand-made from real wood veneer and pressboard to replace it – (see pics). Check and replaced weak tubes where needed. Replace power supply circuit filter capacitors. Replace all tubular wax capacitors regardless of condition. Check and replace all out of tolerance resistors. Replaced damaged volume control pot. Install new polarized power cord. Install new pilot light bulb. Replaced all corroded wiring. Fabricated a custom back-board to replace the missing back-board. Aligned tuned circuits to Mfg specifications. Repaired crack in case with high-strength epoxy. Bench tested for 3 days to ensure stability and safe operation. NOTE – Power supply safely modification. Most of the AC/DC radios from this era had a shock hazard design flaw affectionately known as the “Hot Chassis”, which was present whether the radio was turned on or off. If you were to touch the chassis and at the same time touch a ground source such as a water pipe, there was a 50% chance that you were in for a nasty shock! This was the result of designing the circuits to run on either AC (alternating house current), or DC (direct current), which was needed back then because many homes and most farms had no A/C electric service. They either had (Edison) direct current, or no wiring at all and ran their radios on batteries. The Power supply circuitry in this radio has been custom rewired to eliminate this built-in shock hazard and is now safe. As long as the electrical outlet is correctly wired according to US standard electrical building code (NEC), or NFPA 70 building code, which is true with all electrical household appliances. The trade-off to this change is that the radio can no longer run on D/C or batteries. Not a great loss compared to the safety factor gained! Country: United States of America (USA). Valves / Tubes: (5) 35Z5, 35A5, 7A8, 14A7, 7C6. Main principle: Superheterodyne (common); ZF/IF 455 kHz; 2 AF stage(s). Wave bands: Broadcast only (MW). Power type & voltage: AC/DC-set / 105-120 Volt. Loudspeaker: Permanent Magnet Dynamic (PDyn) Loudspeaker (moving coil) / Ø 4 inch = 10.2 cm. Material: Bakelite case. Shape: Table model without push buttons, Mantel/Midget/Compact up to 14. Dimensions (WHD): 10.5 x 6.5 x 6 inch / 267 x 165 x 152 mm. See pictures for content and condition. The whole unit was completely refurbished with the capacitors and resistors replaced, as well as a new power switch and a period appropriate cloth covered power cord. New wiring was also installed to the speaker as well as to various tubes. The unit will be able to play for years to come. For a demonstration of the unit playing, see the link below. The finish on the radio is all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax and presents quite well. There are a few minor veneer chips that do not detract from the overall appearance of the radio (See photos). The original grill cloth is in excellent condition. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to add this charming radio to your collection. Do not hesitate to make an offer all will be considered.
