The exterior case is a two-tone color that makes use of the wood grain, with a similar color oil stain and varnish applied. The dust cover on the dial part has been painted on the back, so the dial pointer / dial / pilot light cannot be seen well, and the back cover is missing. There are some signs of use due to the passage of time, but scratches and scuffs have been masked and repainted, the speaker cloth (cloth) has been renewed and replaced, and the three dials and knobs that were originally there are still there, so it is in good condition. The vacuum tubes used are “UZ-57 / UY-27 / UX-12A / KX-12F”, which are now vintage ST tubes, total of four, and the speaker’s voltage coil was broken, so I replaced it with an equivalent one I had on hand. The dial operation is “power switch / for main variable capacitor / for playback variable capacitor” from the left. Other major restoration work included: replacing the power cord, pilot lamp cord, and speaker cord for safety reasons; the electrolytic capacitor was not acceptable, so removed it and installed relay lugs in the empty space and replaced it with new “22? F 250V x 2, 33? F 50V x 2″ to restore it to its original condition; the resistor in the cathode circuit of the output tube was broken, so I used a 1K? Resistor I had on hand to restore it to its original condition; one of the lead wires inside the mica capacitor attached to the first grid of the high frequency amplifier tube was broken, so I replaced this; there was a play that could not be repaired in the restored variable capacitor, so I replaced it with one I had on hand to restore it to its original condition; the variable capacitor shaft was a little loose, so I tightened the adjustment bolt to restore it to its original condition; oil maintenance was performed on each rotating part of the variable capacitor, etc. 2-3 solder joints had come loose, so this was repaired; there was an “input terminal for the PU” on the back of the chassis, so although it is shared with the radio circuit, an external input cord was installed; the coating of each wiring was in poor condition, so It has been restored to its original condition by inserting new insulating coating material, etc. And is now fully functional. The inside of the chassis has also been cleaned, and the output sensitivity of the “external input PU function” is also good. Offered for your consideration, is this wonderful Bakelite Silvertone tube radio – model number 6CH132.881. It was manufactured in the mid 50′s. The radio has a very unique brass lattice work and shiny brass dial with red numbering It has been well taken care of not a break or crack. The Chocolate Bakelite case in near mint condition with only a few small scratches – it’s looking good. As with all my radios it is electrically fit – the tubes are strong, a ll of the original wax/paper capacitors have been replaced and the cord has been replaced with a polarized plug. Also featuring: nice body styling; original knobs – all work smoothly; an internal loop antenna; brass lattice grill and the dial is in very good condition – clean and clear. This is a 5-tube set. There is a working dial light. The original back is present. The measurements are: 11″ across, 6.5″ high and 6 wide. This set will definitely give years of good service. Very well-preserved Silvertone model 7006 tube radio, restored as Bluetooth player. Radio can play audio from any device that sends a Bluetooth signal iPhone, tablet, smartphone, laptop, etc. Cabinet has a nice luster to it, no cracks or chips. All tubes have been tested as good. Speaker is near mint, no rips or tears. All new filter capacitors installed. New electrolytic capacitor installed. DC blocking capacitor added to speakers (as specified in the schematic). Fuse installed (1/2 amp blow-blow). Bluetooth 5.0 installed. Year of Manufacture: 1956. Tube Complement: 12BE6, 12BA6, 12AV6, 50C5, 35W4. Dimensions: 12.75 x 6.25 x 5.5 inch.
The all metal chassis is housed in a bronze marbelized ivory colored plaskon case and features a lighted dial and matching ivory knobs. This example has been completely electrically restored to its original specifications. The tubes have all been tested and found to be strong and new electrical components have replaced the old wax and paper out-of-spec parts in the chassis where necessary to assure safe and proper operation. A new polarized power cord was also installed. It is common that these old plaskon radio cases can have small stress cracks on the mid-corners and this one is no exception (see Photo #1 in the left corner). Additionally, there is a repair visible on the very lower right corner (Photos #2, #3 and #5). This radio plays extremely well and has a deep resonant and warm sound through its large baffled speaker. The tuning knob and pointer have been thoroughly cleaned and lubricated and work smoothly. The radio is a good’table’ size at about 11 1/2″ wide 7 1/2″ tall and 7 deep measured at the bottom. The chassis is secured underneath the case by its four wood and rubber feet screwed into the bottom. It is advisable when moving the radio from one location to another that the molded carry hole at the top be used as the radio weighs almost 7 pounds.
