I obtained about 80 tube radios from an estate sale. I will be listing these over the next few weeks so please see my other listings. This listing is for a Silvertone shortwave tube radio. Cool shaped wood cabinet with art deco grill. Please see all pictures. Condition: No cracks or chips on the wood body. One knob is missing. The back is still on the clock as seen in pictures. The unit sits nice and flat with no wobble. The top has some wear as seen in pictures. The dial plastic is missing but replacements can be found online. These radios are highly collectable and are getting harder to find online. It will be protected well and insured. Let me know if you have questions. Broad cast SLANT FACE WOOD CABINET!!! Please see all pictures. Condition: The two tone wood body has some scuff marks and scratches but still looks good as seen in pictures. No cracks in body. The front of the radio has a great classic look to it. It is 18.5″ wide, 10.5″ tall, and 12 1/2 deep. ALL ORIGINAL BAKELITE BUTTONS. All knobs rotate as they should. The cord is in good shape and is not dried out. Most of the front push buttons are missing but should be easy to replace. I believe the unit needs a new tube as no sound when plugged in. These radios are highly collectable and are getting harder to find online. It will be protected well and insured. Let me know if you have questions. A rare and gorgeous radio from 1947, it has the same chassis as that of the famed Belmont Bakelite “Rabbit” radio 6D111. With very nice veneers and trim, it is a smaller table radio with great sound and reception using six tubes and an internal loop antenna. The cabinet is in excellent condition and retains the original stain, which was rejuvenated to bring out out the features of the wood grain. It was then given six coats of clear lacquer and finally hand waxed to enhance it further. The dial face graphics are crisp and clear and lit just right from behind. The knobs and push buttons are original, as are the grill cloth and back cover. The dial cover and power cord are new replacements. The cabinet has no nicks, missing veneer or scratches. Pads were added to the underside to protect your furniture. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna. This very cute and snazzy wooden radio is now completely restored and reliable. Known to be very collectible too, as it is somewhat rare compared to its sister radio the “Rabbit”. And, at 72 years old, it once again looks and sounds sounds like almost new and will last for for many years to come if well maintained. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good working order. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off. Add to that the gorgeous original finish cabinet with burled wood and other inlays and you have a special treat for the eyes and ears. With seven tubes, it has great reception and sensitivity. The radio was totally disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. The cabinet was rejuvenated and nourished to bring the beauty back, then further enhanced with three coats of a hand applied blend of waxes. As the photos depict, the result is remarkably warm and attractive with brilliant design balance. The dial graphics are crisp and clear and nicely lit. The grill cloth, knobs and push buttons are original and in excellent condition. The original label inside the cabinet is intact and in very good condition. The magic eye and electric tuner indicator shine brightly, and are very noticeable in a dimly lit room. The power cord has been replaced. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All of the push buttons function well, and are currently set to my local stations. This radio had been well kept as evidenced by the original finish. Now that the electronics have been restored with modern parts, with reasonable care this 81 year old should easily last another eight decades. This radio is somewhat heavy at 24.5 lbs.
