Some scuffs/ wear noted. Nice hard to find red case. Minor wear to cord some damage to center pointer- looks to have bends- see photos. Does work well without the antenna as videod.
This is a very rare radio – I have never seen another one in this color for sale. This is a General Electric Model 604, in green. Radio powers up and works good. Tunes in stations, and doesn’t even have any bad capacitor hum. The bakelite cover is in great shape (The two white specks in the main photo are actually styrofoam). No major scratches, discolorations, or cracks. For a portable radio, it’s one of the best conditioned ones I’ve seen. Original cord is even in great shape.
This model operates on both AC household current and DC battery power, making it a versatile and stylish portable set from the early 1960s. Power: 117V AC or battery (see instructions on back panel). Size: 10″ × 8″ × 4. Design: Bright red case with black base and gold-tone accents; twin top dials (volume & tuning) feature lightning bolt design. Condition: Tested and does work. Cabinet shows light surface wear/scuffs but overall displays very well. A fantastic piece of mid-century design-whether as a functional radio or a collectible display piece. Thank you for looking.
I could not get this radio to function with new batteries – not entirely sure what could be going wrong other than this has probably sat for many years as this was found at an estate sale. Turns on and make noise but I don’t want to mess with it as I don’t know how to work it. Appears complete with knobs, switches, and hardware. Cabinet shows light wear consistent with age.
