Mid-Century Modern PHILCO RADIO. TESTED AND FOUND TO BE WORKING GREAT. HERE IS A REAL RADIO POWERHOUSE. GREAT SOUND / LOTS OF VOLUME / AND AN ABILITY TO PULL IN STATIONS FROM FAR AWAY. TONIGHT AS I WAS LISTENING HERE IN PITTSBURGH, I HEARD WCBS IN NEW YORK LIKE IT WAS DOWN THE STREET. I ALSO GOT STATIONS FROM PHILLY & BOSTON. THE DIAL WAS LOADED WITH SIGNALS. THIS IS ALSO A FULL RANGE FM RADIO WHICH IS UNUSUAL FOR 1948. THE SIGNAL WAS NOT AS STRONG…. BUT I WAS ONLY USING THE COPPER ANTENNA INSIDE THE RADIO. THE FM WILL PROBABLY REQUIRE SOME ADDITIONAL AERIAL WIRE. APPROX SIZE: 19 x 11 x 12 HIGH. CONDITION: TESTED / WORKING. FM WILL NEED AN ADDITIONAL AERIAL. ELECTRONICALLY THIS RADIO IS IN TOP CONDITION. THE WOOD FINISH IS PRETTY GOOD. THERE IS A WEAR SPOT ON THE TOP LEFT SIDE. THERE IS SOME CRAZING OF THE FINISH ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT ROUNDED SHOULDERS. VINTAGE MID-CENTURY ZENITH 8G005 TUBE SHORT-WAVE RADIO RECEIVER. Powers on and has static. I have been able to tune in a couple of stations but they still have static. May need to be repaired or tuned. Still has the often missing antenna which is spring loaded and still works. GOOD VINTAGE COSMETIC CONDITION. Plastic dial cover has yellowed slightly and is loose. This radio is in great shape for its age with only a couple of exterior blemishes on the front. Manual and blank station cards and complete instructions are under the radio in the front. Complete and in good working condition – displays nicely! Original mid-century, “race-track” brown bakelite cabinet is in very good condition – there are no cracks, chips or deep scratches – just a few very minor surface scuffs/scratches. The center brass zenith crest lights up nicely when radio is on. The silver metal elongated center piece has very slight oxidization. Knobs in are in good condition. Works and plays well, the chassis is in good condition – free of rust and mold. Don’t miss out on this amazing 1951 zenith radio! Overall cabinet dimensions: 13.8″w x 6.7″h x 5.9d.
