This is a good looking Valiant. The paint is original and looks good for it’s age with the expected scratches and scuffs on the cabinet. The faceplate looks good. All controls feel good and turn smoothly. It does appear that someone has replaced some capacitors under the chassis and added some fuses. I’m not an expert on these, but other than the fuses being added, I don’t see any significant modifications. The power cord appears to be relatively new. The 3B28 tubes have been removed from their sockets to ensure they don’t fall out during transit. The sale also includes a reproduction of the operating manual. With the exception of equipment that’s known to be operational, we’ve made the decision to sell these old “boat anchors” 100% as-is and untested. There are a few reasons for this, but it essentially comes down to the fact that they almost always need some level of service and it’s simply not cost effective to pay our technician to spend time going through them. It may or may not need components replaced (caps, resistors, tubes, etc), controls cleaned/lubricated, alignment, and so on. Unless you are qualified and capable of working on this unit yourself, or are willing to pay a qualified individual to do the work for you, we suggest you revisit the idea of whether this is the right equipment for you.
