EXCEPTIONAL VINTAGE ZENITH 6S222 RADIO

Gorgeous Zenith 6S222 radio. The cabinet condition is outstanding as it can be seen on the photographs provided. It has been refinished to it’s original beauty and luster. The radio retains its original grill cloth. The excellent wooden knobs are original as well. The chassis has been completely recapped and all parts out of specification replaced. The dial belt has been replaced. Clean dial and dial glass. The radio operates great on all bands having antenna attached. The small white line on the first photo (top left) is just a debris. Near Mint, Working 1938 Majestic Charlie McCarthy Radio Exceptional Throughout

Make sure to check out all of my auctions after you’ve looked at this one. I’m listing an eclectic assortment of museum quality antiques and collectibles this week, and I suspect that there will be something to interest just about everybody. Here’s an exceptionally nice 1938 Majestic Charlie McCarthy radio. This is the less common brown version, and its condition is excellent to near mint throughout. Charlie is complete (including the monocle and chain), with vibrantly colored enamel and no damage or paint deterioration. The case is pristine — probably the nicest CM case I’ve ever seen. In the back, below the lower left screw hole, there’s small chip (hidden by the back cover), but the other screw holes are perfect (very unusual for this radio), and the case itself is almost like new, with no cracks, no gouges, no scars, and a beautifully formed grill whose slats are straight and undamaged. The chassis is likewise clean — with minimal oxidation and the original paper label still intact — and the radio still works. Has modest performance consistent with other low tube-count 30′s mantle radios, but when warmed up, the radio will tune most high-powered local stations and play them good volume. The line cord has been replaced, but the antenna line is original and in good shape. Overall, a really super example of an eminently collectible antique radio. And if you’re looking for a companion to perch beside it, check out the Effanbee Charlie McCarthy doll I’m listing separately this week. It’s the rare 1st version with “Eddie Bergen” printed on the box instead of Edgar Bergen, and like the radio you see in this listing, the doll’s condition is close to mint. The two have been shelf-mates for decades, and it would be nice if they could stay together a bit longer. That’s about it. Rest assured it will arrive at your home in the same fine condition in which it leaves mine. Early Philco 16B tombstone. 100% operational, no exceptions. The cabinet is finished as close to original as possible using correct materials. Completely tight and solid. New period Chevron style grill cloth. The speaker cone is in the perfect condition. The chassis has been completely restored, recapped and all out of range parts replaced. New period power cord and plug. The underside of the chassis photo is available upon request. The radio, having 2 IF stages, is extremely sensitive and operates great on all 5 bands – 4 SW and 1 BC having antenna attached. Noice suppression switch and potentiometer operate correctly, and so does the shadow meter. Controls operate smooth w/o any scratching noise. Dual speed tuning works flawlessly. Vintage old wood antique table top tube radio Philco PT-44! Exceptional

Just completed is this exceptional example of the philco pt-44. This little gem was made in 1940 and weighs in at 12″ long x 6-5″ tall x 6.25 deep. The radio features the somewhat unique curved sides and curved top along with an excellent wood grain flow throughout the cabinet. The front of the radio displays an excellent wood dial bezel along with the vertical wood speaker grill. The back cover which adds an excellent touch is made of wood and has a beautiful design. The radio has a built in “loop” antenna and the reception is excellent. The speaker is in excellent condition and has a clear strong voice. The knobs have been polished and resealed. The dial face is excellent in appearance and there is a new dial cover. A new ac power cord, new dial lamp, new filter and wax capacitors, new grill cloth, and the remaining chassis and components have been cleaned, tested/checked, adjusted, and lubed if needed. The tubes were individually tested and any weak were replaced. This little fella receives very well and plays great ! Definitely a collectors radio and certainly would look great in that special place in your home or office.
