Vintage 1948 FADA 790 AMFM Radio, Exceptional Condition, Refurbished

The gold dial is beautiful when lit. The ON/OFF knob is also the tone control, with separate knobs for volume, station selection and band selection. Cabinet, 6 speaker, grill, dial, knobs and back are all original. The crystal clear dial cover is a replacement. 14″ W x 9″ H x 7 D, 10 lbs. Look over the pictures carefully to make sure the condition of this exceptional radio is acceptable to you. They offer a better external description than I could. If you have any questions, please contact me. I ran the radio about a half hour before packing it to make sure it was working properly. Please don’t mess with the electronics unless you’re experienced working on vintage radios due to the presence of high voltages. You probably won’t need to for quite a while with this one, anyway. Since this radio is old, I can’t guarantee anything, but FedX has been doing a great job delivering them undamaged. Of course, please let me know immediately if you have a problem. This gorgeous jet black radio is in almost perfect restored condition. The Bakelite finish is flawless and has a deep and reflective shine like when it was new. Even the bottom labels are completely intact and like new. And, it is a unique departure from most of the just-post WWII radios with its bold styling. The unusual metal speaker grill insert really draws attention. With six tubes and an internal loop antenna, it receives quite well with very good sensitivity, selectivity and sound. And of course a. S with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. The cabinet was completely disassembled and cleaned, then buffed to a wondrously smooth, shiny and lustrous finish. The glass dial face graphics are crisp, clear and well lighted. The original knobs were polished. The grill cloth is a beautiful new pattern. The back cover is in excellent condition. The power cord was replaced. The photos say the rest about how pristine this radio is and how well it displays. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna. This baby boomer radio is now 74 years old and looking like it did when new. And, now that it is completely restored, it sounds like it too! It will continue to bring reliable enjoyment for many more years if well cared for. It is an wonderful addition to a collection or as a gift for someone to cherish. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off. Another item from Country Artifacts, Great Northern Liquidation, Springfield, Vermont. Vintage 1950 Blaupunkt Granada 3D Type 2330 Super HiFi Short Wave Tube Radio, Exceptional. 7 Tube radio (EM80, ECC85, CC92, ECH81, EF89, EABC80, EL84) plus one lamp (6.3V 0.3A). 4 bands: FM, SW, SB, LW. HiFi and Normal settings. This radio has two connections on the back with pictures of a record player, tape deck and speaker. There is a phono button on the front. One of the tubes is a green magic eye, which shines in a window next to the volume knob on the left front. The ECC85 tube is a Telefunken; I couldn’t see the markings on the EC92; the ECH81, EF89, and EABC80 are German made Lorenz (all three, I think); and the EL84 is a Sylvania. I can’t see the EM80 magic eye’s markings. 23″ wide x 10-3/4″ deep x 14-7/8 high overall. This radio is in Nice Working condition, with little to no hum in the sound. I was able to tune in a Stereo FM signal easily in this building, which has a metal skin, so that’s very impressive. The speakers are in good condition, all three working fine. I can see the back side of the woofer, and the paper cone and integral surrounds looks clean and unbroken and good. When I switched the radio bands, I found that I had to play with the FM button a little to get it to cleanly switch into that mode properly, so it (and logically all the other buttons) will need to be sprayed with Deox to make the contacts work their best. I didn’t test the other bands, so I can’t report about them. The radio appears to be complete and original (except maybe for the Sylvania tube), untouched and unrestored, with dust still on the internal parts. The cabinet is in very good condition, undamaged except for minor wear to the finish and to various edges (principally to the top back and the bottom front trim below the buttons) as shown. The back and bottom covers are present. The removable back cover with the bright yellow markings has a minor crease and a repaired corner. The bottom has some signs of moisture that I don’t see on the inside. This is an exceptional radio, in my opinion. Unpacked weight & size: 25.75, 23x15x11. Packed weight & size: 35, 29x21x17. Vintage American Auto & Radio Mfg. American Beauty Radio that is in exceptional condition. Radio comes equipped with a Burgess 4 1/2 volt C battery and 2 Pilot By-Pass Condensers, and wiring. There is also another component that was found on the side of the interior that may be for the radio. Front panel is showing very little wear and all of the dials turn smoothly. All 5 tubes are present. Unfortunately, I have no way of testing this radio, but everything appears to be there to receive radio stations. In 2018, this Philco model will be 81 years old! WOW, it’s working like new! This radio set has been restored to it’s original condition and is ready to bring another lifetime’s listening pleasure to it’s proud new owner. You will be satisfied with this radio set because no detail inside OR outside has been overlooked in order to deliver both “dependable performance” and appealing cabinetry. Every effort has been made to offer a practically new radio, performing as it did originally, and to be maintenance free for quite some time. The wood cabinet is in exceptional condition without any cracks, delamination of veneers, or patch-job repairs. The cabinet has been refinished in traditional manner using linseed oil varnish to bring out the texture of the veneers and to impart a soft shine. Brass accent has been polished and over-lacquered to prevent future tarnishing. The cabinet measures 12″ x 6″ x 8.5high. It is offered for sale today in like manner. Lit up, the original station dial is just spectacular as viewed through it’s glass cover. Albeit, this model has physical presence which is not fully appreciated from the attached photographs. The electronics inside the chassis are in superb working condition after a thorough overhaul. Following the restoration, radio frequency circuits were re-tuned using instrumentation. The end result is an old fashioned wood cabinet tube radio set giving superb reception across the dial. This receiver uses 5 tubes. All 5 tubes are “new old stock”. The dial bulb is new and rated at 3000 hours. This Philco receiver doesn’t have a loop antenna for reception. It receives station signals from a long wire aerial. As part of this sale, I will provide a new wire aerial to attach to the antenna post located on the rear of the chassis. Thoroughly bench tested, this radio set is ready for it’s new home. Exceptional Antique Vintage 1949 RCA Baby Nipper Compact Bakelite Tube Radio

1949 RCA’Baby Nipper’ Bakelite Tube Radio. Inspired by the Bel Geddes designed American RCA 9TX1, this compact Canadian 1949 bakelite gem by RCA has a ton of visual appeal. Nicknamed the’Baby Nipper’ due to its compact size, it features a tiered waterfall top and wrap around base detail, easily allowing it to be eye catching at any display angle. The vertical raised’RCA Victor’ name located just to the right of the dial makes this set even more unique. Comes complete with the original gold decals on the front lower left front – one featuring the older RCA log and the other displaying the classic’Nipper’ dog. All accented by a small gold-dot indicator above the dial scale. Only RCA could pack so much detail into such a compact design. You also have the benefit of knowing the exact day this set was made due to the surviving factory ink stamp found still intact on the top of the chassis (April 6 1949). Very small in size, but still packing that classic tube sound. Machine buffed , meticulously hand detailed and hand polished to a brilliant factory fresh luster. It measures only 5″ tall X 8 1/2″ wide. This is a fully restored and working radio that is ready to play, display and enjoy for years to come. As per the factory stamp, this set was manufactured on April 6, 1949. The speaker is original and completely perfect! It employs the use of a long wire antenna (the small brown wire coming out of the back). There is nothing for you to hook up or connect. Simply let it rest behind the set or drop it behind the set and you’re good to go! In the interest of safety, performance and reliability ALL paper, wax and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with modern day equivalents. Any resistors testing out of their allotted tolerance have been replaced. Every tube was tested and replaced if found to be under performing. Voltages are checked against the manufacturers specs. All moving parts are lubricated for smooth operation. A brand new power cord is added to replace the unsafe and brittle original. The signal strength is then aligned to factory specs to provide peak performance. Lastly, the set is then put through its paces by bench testing it for a minimum of 48 hours to ensure reliability and to allow for a proper’burn in’ period for new components. As a result of this entire restoration process, the set performs clearly, strongly and with that unmistakable tube driven sound. Machine buffed, meticulously hand detailed and hand polished to a brilliant and natural looking factory fresh luster with a mirror-like reflectivity (you can see reflections of my shop in the photos). No chips, cracks, breaks or deep scratches. Rich dark chocolate bakelite with very subtle smokey marbling throughout that has been restored back to it’s original and historically accurate appearance (no crazy paint schemes) all while retaining the natural qualities and textures of the bakelite. My restoration work is a multi-step process. No quick shine tricks are used. No clear coats, top coats or oils. No quick and easy automotive waxes either. With each of my professionally polished radio cabinets I invest significant time and attention to detail in order to bring you a radio that is worth displaying in your prized collection or proudly accenting your home or office decor. No shortcuts are taken. Quality is the end goal. Knobs & Dial Scale. Complete with the original factory knobs. The plastic volume control knob has been hand detailed and hand polished to a fresh factory original luster just like the cabinet with no chips, cracks or breaks. The clear lucite tuning knob does double duty and also acts as the dial scale. Brass button center and brass dial scale with petite black numbering. All numbers are easy to read and without flaking or fading. This set also comes with the original backboard with all graphics still intact. The same backboard that it left the factory with in 1949. Here is an Exceptional Vintage 1937 Zenith 6-S-222 6S222 Original Unrestored Cube Tube Radio. It is in excellent original and unrestored condition and is in working condition. Recently brought up slowly using a variac and it sounds great but the volume is a little low. Probably a weak tube. Original finish on box is very nice as shown. Dial is very clean and all knobs move smooth. Interior is nice and clean. It measures about 14″w x 11″h x 9-1/2d at 17 lbs. This will make a wonderful addition to anyone’s collection. Gorgeous Zenith 6S222 radio. The cabinet condition is outstanding as it can be seen on the photographs provided. It has been refinished to it’s original beauty and luster. The radio retains its original grill cloth. The excellent wooden knobs are original as well. The chassis has been completely recapped and all parts out of specification replaced. The dial belt has been replaced. Clean dial and dial glass. The radio operates great on all bands having antenna attached. The small white line on the first photo (top left) is just a debris. Near Mint, Working 1938 Majestic Charlie McCarthy Radio Exceptional Throughout

Make sure to check out all of my auctions after you’ve looked at this one. I’m listing an eclectic assortment of museum quality antiques and collectibles this week, and I suspect that there will be something to interest just about everybody. Here’s an exceptionally nice 1938 Majestic Charlie McCarthy radio. This is the less common brown version, and its condition is excellent to near mint throughout. Charlie is complete (including the monocle and chain), with vibrantly colored enamel and no damage or paint deterioration. The case is pristine — probably the nicest CM case I’ve ever seen. In the back, below the lower left screw hole, there’s small chip (hidden by the back cover), but the other screw holes are perfect (very unusual for this radio), and the case itself is almost like new, with no cracks, no gouges, no scars, and a beautifully formed grill whose slats are straight and undamaged. The chassis is likewise clean — with minimal oxidation and the original paper label still intact — and the radio still works. Has modest performance consistent with other low tube-count 30′s mantle radios, but when warmed up, the radio will tune most high-powered local stations and play them good volume. The line cord has been replaced, but the antenna line is original and in good shape. Overall, a really super example of an eminently collectible antique radio. And if you’re looking for a companion to perch beside it, check out the Effanbee Charlie McCarthy doll I’m listing separately this week. It’s the rare 1st version with “Eddie Bergen” printed on the box instead of Edgar Bergen, and like the radio you see in this listing, the doll’s condition is close to mint. The two have been shelf-mates for decades, and it would be nice if they could stay together a bit longer. That’s about it. Rest assured it will arrive at your home in the same fine condition in which it leaves mine.
