Model Eight Tube Radio. 1960s High Fidelity, Mid-Century Modern. Made in the USA! Fully restored and professionally aligned 100% Original. (except for new capacitors and tubes as noted). The KLH Model Eight was Henry Kloss’s first electronic product. It may be the world’s first true high fidelity table radio, and it is the ONLY tube radio with an acoustic suspension speaker. This example is from later in the production run. It has white knobs, walnut veneer cabinets and a single 4 speaker driver. Receiver is SN 011372 and the speaker is SN 009395. This radio has all of the original labels and the original speaker grille cloth. This unit was serviced by KLH in 1978 and the Service Dept stickers are still on the bottom. Included is a clean bound reproduction of the Owner’s Manual. This radio has been meticulously restored. The cabinets were very lightly sanded and fresh lacquer was applied. The big can cap is a NEW electrolytic. All other electrolytics have been replaced with NEW film and Paper-in-Oil caps. ALL tubes were replaced. The power cord was replaced with an appropriate non-polarized NOS cord. Stick-on feet added to speaker bottom for protection. Receiver was taken to a professional technician for complete testing and alignment. The black back plate was cracked. It has been glued and reinforced with an aluminum angle. A hairline crack is visible but it is sturdy. Both speaker wire cleats were cracked. These have been repaired with PlastiPair but hairline cracks are visible. There are light scratches and a ring on the top of the receiver, and scratches on the bottom of the speaker. Because the cabinets are veneer they only sanded lightly. Original speaker plug was missing and has been replaced with. There is a small wrinkle in the cloth over the speaker. Please see the photos. I have tried to show all issues noted.
