Vintage Early Wooden 2-Way Radiola Model 3A Battery Tube Radio W/ Cloth Cord. This radio came from an estate here in Indiana and is in good used pre-owned condition. This radio does show signs of age with some slight surface scuffs and scratches. This radio also has its original cloth cord but is beaten up, and the original emblem. This radio was not plugged in and tested that being said the operation is unknown. All the knobs on this radio seem to turn freely and appears in nice shape. Wow, what a stunningly beautiful mantle radio! It is very rare – I cannot locate another like it anywhere, in spite of a very comprehensive search. The cabinet is just gorgeous with corner columns, rounded sides and overhanging top. The back of it has a brass marker “Premier” and the chassis is an Air King model 50. Nonetheless, it is just a very special and very stately looking radio. With a TRF design and four tubes, it receives well and sounds great too. Only the top of the cabinet was redone. The lacquer finish was removed and the original stain was rejuvenated. The top was then redone with seven new coats of clear lacquer. The remainder of the cabinet was cleaned and given three hand rubbed coats of quality wax. The dial graphics are crisp and clear and the dial glass is in excellent condition. The dazzling and exquisite grill cloth is original and in excellent condition. I believe the Bakelite knobs to be original. The power cord is new, having replaced the old “curtain burner” cord and using the original Bakelite plug. Felt pads were added to the bottom to protect your furniture. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using an external antenna. This gentle and delightful radio shows superb styling and craftsmanship. It is a must for the collector, and a high quality accent or focal piece for the discerning decorator. Vintage Atwater Kent Model 30 Tube Radio that is in good condition for its age. This model is an early and hard to find version, as the tubes are seated on flat plates and turned to lock in, instead of being inserted into pin holes. The finish is all original and in good shape with some scratches and wear. The front metal plate is showing some disclororation, but not enough to detract from the appearance. Unfortunately the tubes are not present, but can easily be obtained. The wires for the battery and speaker are present. Perfect candidate for restoration.
