Old Antique Wood Zenith Vintage Tube Radio -Restored Working Art Deco Black Dial

To view our other auctions including additional restored antique radios, grill cloth, and supplies. Nothing beats the style and quality of a Zenith radio, and this one is no exception. One of the last pre WWII productions designed by Robert Budlong, a highly acclaimed Zenith designer, this Art Deco 1941 model 6-D-2615N table radio features a gorgeous dark walnut cabinet, humpback top, large boomerang black dial, various pushbutton tone controls, loop antenna and outstanding performance. Cabinet: The dark walnut cabinet is just stunning. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set with an eye catching swirled grain on the front. The Art Deco humpback design reminds you of why Zenith was second to none in craftsmanship. It all comes together beautifully with the large boomerang black dial which flows with the shape of the cabinet. Various tone controls are positioned on each side of the dial and surrounded by elegant gold escutcheons. A large center grill and jet black trim finish the cabinet off perfectly. This radio is sure to be the main topic of conversation no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in. Dial: The boomerang style black dial is a real attention getter. It is illuminated by dual dial lamps for a bright shine. All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show little signs of wear. All four pushbuttons are functional and control various tones; voice, alto, treble and bass. Both knobs are in great shape and control on/off & volume and tuning. Grill Cloth: The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a whiskey gold color with an Art Deco geometric design. Chassis: All tubes in the 6 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The radio provides deep rich tone, great selectivity and room filling volume. The Cabinets Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. Dimensions: 14″ W x 9 H x 7″ D. I sell quality antique radios and describe them accurately, as can be confirmed with my outstanding feedback. My radios are expertly packed using oversized boxes, many layers of bubble wrap, and several inches of packing material surrounding each side of the radio so you can be assured they arrive safely. If your radio arrives and does not work please let us know. We will gladly walk you through the process of troubleshooting to get it started. The tubes, capacitors, resistors, and filters. However, if at any time these parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing the defective part at minimal cost. Finally, in very rare instances, if there is. If that is the case with your country, you assume the risk of any damage or undelivered package. Antique tube radio reception can differ greatly depending on location, length of antenna, and amount of interference in different areas. Playing capability is accurately described based on my location, surroundings, and hooked up to a 12 copper line antenna. The antenna will be included with the sale but I cannot guarantee reception quality in your area. It may differ (better or worse) depending on your location, surroundings, and interference. Antique Radio Electronics, whether restored or un-restored, are by nature hazardous due to their voltage, design and age. Any operation, repairs or other adjustments are done at your own risk. Outside antenna will bring in the best reception. It has it’s original 2 knobs. The cabinet is a little warped. There is a gap between the wood on the left backside. The front of the radio has some paint splatters on the front of it. These traits all just add character though since it was around in every situation, even messy ones! The cord needs a replacement. This is a great radio. It would be a good project. It doesn’t need much work, but it does need a little! It measures about 12″ long, 9″ tall, and 7 wide. This is a great deal for a Zenith radio. We are located at 107 S. Calumet, Chesterton IN 46304. We are open 4 days a week (M-Th 11am to 6pm CST). We photograph and describe each item to the best of our ability.
