THIS IS A STUNNING RARE ART DECO 1937 CORONADO MODEL #650. CABINET: This beautiful American walnut cabinet has tremendous wood grains that carry throughout the entire piece. Notice the beautiful waterfall front and distinctive Art Deco grill pattern accented with jet black high gloss trim. DIAL& KNOBS : This is the original Coronado black and gold translucent dial that stands out brilliantly. The illumination with our custom LED lighting system gives you options of colors and fades. We have selected these beautiful gold and black soho knobs that streamline the overall appearance of this special cabinet. GRILL CLOTH : We have chosen this beautiful 30′s style grill cloth with Art Deco pattern. The custom LED lighting makes this grill cloth glow perfectly. It displays eloquently as when illuminated with a beautiful glow! LET’S TALK CHASSIS. We appreciate and understand the desire to keep the interior and exterior of these Art Deco radios stock, However we feel the cabinet is the heart and soul of all vintage radios. Throughout our restoration process we are conscience of preserving the natural wood elements and that the design features remain in tact. We understand the importance of aesthetics from a restoration stand point and also feel they deserve a restoration from an Audio aspect. We do not feel this compromise’s the radio as a whole but rather enhances it both from a visual & audio perspective , by adding modern day audio results in breathing new life in to these unique pieces! Its truly an Amazing experience! ILLUMINATION : Due to our choice of replacing the standard chassis with a Bluetooth speaker this allows us to fully illuminate the grill as well as the dial by LED remote for a full beautiful illumination! DIMENTIONS: 18 X 10.5 X 11. FUNCTIONAL ART AT ITS FINEST! THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! ART DECO CABINET WITH MODERN DAY SOUND! THE FUTURE OF THE PAST! This beautiful pre WWII radio has great styling, gorgeous front veneer and a distinctive oval metal bezel. Using various veneers and solid woods, it is very well made with quality craftsmanship and design. It not only looks charming, it sounds good too. With six tubes, it has very good sensitivity, selectivity and reception. It also has tone control for your listening preference. S with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. The cabinet was stripped of the old varnish and lacquer, keeping the original stain. It was then nourished and rejuvenated and the top and bottom trim were redone with brown mahogany toners. The entire cabinet was then given seven coats of clear lacquer with excellent results. There is some veneer edges missing from the top as can be seen in the photos. There is also a very small chip in the right upper front veneer. None of those detract from the overall appearance of the radio. The multicolored dial face is in excellent condition with crisp and clear graphics that are nicely lighted and there is an indicator that shows which band is selected. The original dial cover has been polished and is in very good condition. The bezel is in excellent original condition. He knobs are replacements that perfectly match the trim toners and have been polished. The grill cloth has replaced. The power cord was replaced. Felt pads were added to the bottom to protect your furniture. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The now unused original electrolytic capacitors remain in place to maintain the original look of the chassis. The original Jensen speaker is in excellent condition and sounds great. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the nine foot external antenna (provided). This is a fairly rare radio with a very appealing presence and it. Certainly demands a place of distinction. Just imagine all of the news of the world, music and stories this wonderful radio has broadcast. Now 84 years old and newly restored inside and out, it will continue to provide many more years of enjoyment if well cared for. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off. A large intricate cut grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. Jet black trim and base finish the cabinet off perfectly. This beauty is sure to add elegance and class to any room of the home or office you choose to display it in. Dial: The airplane style dial is a real eye catcher. It lights nice and bright with a warm orange glow. The dial itself features an ivory background with the Kilocycles scale at the top and Meters at the bottom. Grill Cloth: The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a classic black and gold color with a leaf / wave design. Chassis: All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. Using the included copper line antenna the radio performs very well. The Cabinets Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. Dimensions: 11″ W x 14 1/2 H x 7 1/4″ D. I sell quality antique radios and describe them accurately, as can be confirmed with my outstanding feedback. My radios are expertly packed using oversized boxes, many layers of bubble wrap, and several inches of packing material surrounding each side of the radio so you can be assured they arrive safely. If your radio arrives and does not work please let us know. We will gladly walk you through the process of troubleshooting to get it started. The tubes, capacitors, resistors, and filters. However, if at any time these parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing the defective part at minimal cost. Finally, in very rare instances, if there is. If that is the case with your country, you assume the risk of any damage or undelivered package.
