I have not tested this as the old cord doesn’t look too good. The tuning dial and on/off control turn with ease. Cabinet has some marks and scratches some peeling. This is dusty and needs cleaning as well. See photos for more details.

Vintage Jackson Bell Peter Pan Cathedral Tube Radio for Parts or Repair. Measures 8 3/4″ L x 12″ H x 7 W. The radio is untested. The case looks to be in decent condition. Peter Pan’s horn is broken off as shown. The drawer is missing as shown. The wood has some scuffing and marks from age and use. The tubes look to be in decent shape as shown. King I believe went out of buisness in 1930 so it was made pre 1930. I saw this radio on Worthpoint and they said it was licensed under RCA. Dont know the model of this radio and they didnt either. Nice smaller sized cathedral tube radio. The lighted dial works. Got one clear station then it goes away and doesnt stay there, knob volume crates static when turning. For part or repair probably as the station doesnt stay on when you get it. Personal number is 592.

This is a Philco Jr Model 81 cathedral radio from 1933. The tuning works even though the dial scale itself is cracked and damaged. The cabinet is rough. There is finish loss, scratching and wear throughout the exterior. Some wiring has been updated and you can see electrical tape on parts of the chassis. Replacement tubes have been installed. This would make a good candidate for someone who wants a working chassis to pair with a better cabinet, or who wants to take on a full restoration. All three original knobs are there and the chassis appears otherwise complete.

Title: Vintage 1933 RCA Victor Model R-28-P Cathedral Radio. Power Status: Powers on. Functionality: Vacuum tubes glow and speaker produces audio response/static. Cabinet: Original wood cabinet in vintage condition; back cover is missing. Internal: Original chassis and RCA factory label are present and visible. Up for sale is a 1933 RCA Victor Model R-28-P Cathedral Radio. This 90-year-old “tombstone” style radio is a great candidate for restoration or a standout display piece. Testing Notes: I have plugged this unit in and verified that it powers on. The vacuum tubes show a warm glow, and the speaker responds with static as you adjust the dials. It currently does not pull in a clear station, which is typical for an unrestored unit of this age; it likely requires a long-wire antenna or a standard electronic servicing (cleaning/recapping) to return to full operation. The wood cabinet retains its classic Gothic arch shape and original patina. Please note that the original back cover is missing, leaving the chassis and tubes exposed as shown in the photos.

Manufactured by RCA Victor, one of the most influential names in American radio history, the R-5 represents an early transitional design bridging simple table radios and the more ornate cathedral models that followed shortly after. This example features a solid wood cabinet with distinctive vertical grille detailing, an arched dial window, and original analog tuning scale. The rear shows period-correct construction and wiring, with original tube layout present. Radios from this era were built to house vacuum tubes and operate on household current, though due to age, internal components typically require restoration before safe operation. Surviving examples with intact cabinetry and original RCA branding are increasingly difficult to source, particularly models produced in smaller numbers such as the Radiolette line.
