This WELLS-GARDNER 5 tube radio from 1938 has one of the nicest mottled or marbled Bakelite cabinets you will find. The size is 9″ x 6 1/2″ x 5. The case lines are very Deco and the wraparound grill bars are unusually thick. Wells Gardner Tube Radio. It powers on and the dial light turns on. But there is a loud hum, no stations come in. Great candidate for restoration! Cabinet is in good condition with no cracks. Thanks for considering ###128578. Be sure to check out our other vintage electronics for sale!

The Arvin model 602 in a “plastic Walnut cabinet” and the same in Ivory as model 602A can be seen 1939 at least in two fliers “New 1940 Arvin Radios”. The two 6-tube AC/DC models have a built in loop antenna called “Phantom Scope”, continuously variable tone control and a carrying handle. Band coverage of the 602 and 602A is 540 to 1750 kc which includes some police reception. Power consumption 30 Watts. The flier lists the tubes but instead of the 12SQ7 (or 12SQ7GT as shown in a set) a 12Q7GT which would have a cap and naturally an other pin arrangement. The chassis picture of a set shows not the 12Q7GT but 12SQ7GT without cap. Price in first year of sale.
