Vintage 1947 Northern Electric Model 5000 “Baby Champ” Waterfall /Rainbow Radio. Canadian radio with a beautiful shiny brown finish to it. The radio has been stored for a few years. I wiped it off before I took the pictures, but did not shine or buff it in any way. It has a beautiful pattina. The last two pictures I took when the radio was on. The tubes light up and it started to play shortly after being plugged in. The stations come in clear. The volume increased as it should when the on/off/volume knob was turned. The clarity of the radio was good. No distortion, the stations came in clearly and alot of stations came in – near and distant. Only detractor is a crack that starts at the top right of the tuning dial and crosses over to the right side panel. I took a close up picture of the area. The actual dial lens has some scratches also. The dial pointer is reiminiscent of an airplane propellor. The radio is quite attractive due to the front design that is either nicknamed Rainbow, or Waterfall. Dimensions: 10.6″ x 6.3″ x 5.9. Weight of the radio before packing is 6 1/4 lbs. For Sale is an early 1940′s all Plaskon 5 tube Addison model 2 radio know as the “Baby Addison”. This model was manufactured in Canada in Catalin, Plaskon and any # of combinations of the two plastics. This original Plaskon cabinet is a highly marbled Olive color, with dark and light brown swirls, that I’ve heard referred to as a peanut butter color. I’ve also heard this was an “end of day” color. I believe it is unusual and just one of the 30+ color combinations Addison produced. The original Plaskon waterfall trim and bumpers are a slightly darker swirled olive color. The original cabinet and trim are damage-free; no chips, cracks, hairlines or tube burns. The cabinet, trim and knobs have a lovely, shiny patina. The original dial face perfectly matches the cabinet color and is in great condition. The original dial lens is still clears and in great shape. The pinwheel knobs are a dark maroon in great condition. Cord appears to be original. Original paper label on bottom. The item “Vintage all Plaskon Baby Addison radio. Near mint, working. Philco Baby Grand Cathedral Radio Model 20. This wooden beauty is from 1930. What a very cool radio! Is in good physical condition for the age of the recorder. Please see ALL the pictures! I plugged in the unit and turned it on, the dispIay is backlit and powers on. I saw a few tubes give off a glow and heard the hum and crackle from tuning the radio, but I COULD NOT TUNE IN ANY radio stations when I turned the dial. So basically NO sound. FYI-I did not have an antenna attached when I tested it. A great addition for. The vintage radio collector! All sales are As-Is and are final.
