Vintage, made in the USA in 1937! The dial light does not come in but the radio reception is decent here in Seattle, WA. No cracks in the case, but there are a few scuffs/knicks. Nothing major at all considering this radio’s age+.
Fresh from a local estate, this Airline Model 93BR-715A pushbutton tabletop radio is a good candidate for restoration. The radio powered up, but I could detect a distinct capacitor odor, so the unit will have to be recapped to get it functioning. The finish on the radio is all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. There is significant wear to the shellac on the top and the grill veneer is warped and broken in a few spots. The bottom of the radio is showing some separating of the plywood, most likely from moisture. The plastic dial bezel is broken at 3 of the corners and will need some work to get it properly affixed. Both knobs turn smoothly and properly and the wheel dials function properly as well. The push buttons are a bit sticky and will need attention. The grill cloth is in good condition, with no rips or holes. The power cord is a replacement. Despite the defects, the radio is quite worthy of a restoration. Do not hesitate to make an offer all will be considered.

This radio, manufactured by Emerson, features a unique mottled brown color and a large tube design typical of classic radios from the 1930s. Crack on top, see photo. There are cuts and cracks in the wire insulation for the plug. So I did not plug it in to test it. Measures approximate 11 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ x 7 1/2 tall.

Good physical condition, powers up, all knobs work accordingly, no hum, couldn’t pull in a station but you can hear frequency changes.. Cord will need to be replaced as insulation has disintegrated. Run in speaker cloth and age spots.
Fully restored working condition. Just plug it down and listen to the ball game. ? Cosmetically very clean and no serious blemishes. Short wave band, which is touchy and needs to be exercised or lubricated or both.
