Hi everyone here is a very cool & rare htf original Atwater Kent Radio sign, it measures 25×18, It is sturdy, I believe made out of a paper mache. It is in good condition from the 1920s, shows average age wear, see pictures. There are two small holes on each side, where it looks like maybe it had been mounted on a wall or somewhere? It comes with a copy of a small news clipping from the Antique week paper written in 1999 about this sign, though I do not know if it is speaking of this particular sign or just another that had been on line, but interesting info. You might be hard pressed to find this again its a wonderful and authentic store display piece for the Motorola Pixie, original and in excellent condition. It measures 24 wide at the base, 18 tall & 7 deep at the base & 3 deep in the case. The display is made of solid wood and comes fully stocked with four different colors of this hard-to-find radio with subminiature tubes. Motorola advertised these as the worlds most powerful pocket radios. Theyre made of a more modern sturdy plastic, not bakelite or catalin. The advertising displays original lettering is crisp and complete and has a nice patina. The glass is also original and in great shape with no cracks or chipping. The wood finish is original and flaking on the 3 sides, but I always prefer as close to original as possible and will leave it to the new proud owner to do as they see fit. The back hardware/latches are all present, with a few small chips to the wood backing as shown. The radios have not been tested due to the type of batteries needed. The cosmetic conditions are very good with minimal wear to the metal dial plate, normally susceptible to scratches and gouges. There’s a picture of each radio’s insides and they are pretty nice – you can see. A little discoloration corrosion? Around the top of the metal speaker frames in the red/green cases. All of the cases have no cracks nor chips with minimal wear marks, most notably on the bottom of the red version. These Pixies do not show up very often, especially in this condition. Add to that the rarity of the store counter case and you have one very nice and attractive display piece for your collection. I will be using a very large box to make sure this scarce piece arrives as you see it now. THIS IS A WORKING 1920s ATWATER KENT RADIO STORE ADVERTISING LAMP. THIS RARE AND ORNATE METAL LAMP IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO DAMAGE AND WOULD HAVE BEEN USED IN THE OLD-TIME RADIO STORES IN THEIR ADVERTISING DISPLAYS. THE LAMP HAS A NICE AND EVEN AGED PATINA. IT SPORTS A COLORFUL DON PATTERSON GOLD TRIM SHADE, 7″ HIGH & 12″ ACROSS THE BOTTOM, ALTHOUGH THE PICTURES MAKE IT SEEM HIGHER AND LESS WIDE. STILL, IT IS IN NICE CONDITION AND IS ACTUALLY VINTAGE ITSELF AS IT WAS MADE IN THE MID-1980s OR EARLIER. THE REPLACEMENT CORD WAS ADDED ABOUT THE SAME TIME WITH A REPLICA OF AN OLD RESISTER CORD AND AN ACTUAL OLD PLUG. Please note the lamp shade was not made by Don Patterson but rather his predecessor Ralph Williams. Patterson, I had one of Ralph’s and that inspired me to make mine. Ralph’s was a good one and yours looks like it is the real thing. They had a brass gimp that could not be reproduced. Patterson for the information!
