This is for an old Philco Jr Model 80 I picked up at a radio collectors estate. I knew I had a friend who’s had 1 of these for years so I picked it up figuring between the two I could put something together. Still looks pretty good and picks up a radio station or 2 without an antenna. Has some low humming too. The light is burned out. All the tubes light up nice and bright. I took way more than the 12 pics shown here so just ask if you’d like to see them. Pretty good sized & weight it measures 14″high x 12″ wide x about 8 1/4 deep. The radios I sell are the old tube type sets. Usually radios of this age need some repair before they can work really well. The paper capacitors and electrolytic capacitors deteriorate with age, and often need to be replaced. It’s not at all uncommon for the radio to be working to some extent when plugged in for the first time, but it will likely perform much better after replacing the paper and electrolytic capacitors. When it is stated that they work this means they power up, the dial light lights if so equipped and stations can be heard. Reception may not be strong and clear on all stations. Reception is highly dependent on location, local interference, type of antenna being used and more. Tubes, capacitors and other components dry out and degrade because of age and heating and cooling cycles. Just because a set works today does not mean it will work tomorrow. I always give you 4 different choices and the one showing may not be the cheapest one for you. There might be a mistake. I ad nothing extra.. Please note that I sell mostly used vintage items that might have wear consistent with their age. Item MAY have come from a home where someone smokes. I’m honest and easy to deal with. Rare 1930s Emerson Wood Body Radio. BL-214 Body with a BF-266 Chassis and added tone control. This is a factory built, undocumented model. There were only a very limited amount of these made. If you do a search you’ll see there are a few others that. Are primarily in the hands of serious collectors at this point. This is a completely ORIGINAL, unrestored and working unit. It powers up and the dial light works. All control knobs work. It has a louder hum (probably needs a new tube). I managed to tune a few stations so it does work. Case has the original gold emerson logo, beautiful striped wood design. And classic deco dial. Broadcast band and shortwave. There is no back panel. The condition is VERY NICE. There are a few light scratches on the top, some chipping to the finish on the bottom. It is a great candidate for restoration, probably one of the finest originals you’ll find. Size measures: 13 5/8″ across x 8 3/4″ tall x 7 3/4 deep. See pics, contact me with any questions. Philco famous Mystery control. The path breaking wireless remote control introduced in 1939. Prior to that time several manufacturers offered hard wired remotes, connected to the radio with a long cable, but Philco was the first to make a wireless control. The Mystery control was battery powered and completely self contained, with a large Tenite rotary dial detailed with brass and and a veneer cabinet, so it is also a beautiful decorative object. The main purpose of the Mystery control is to choose stations. This remote is in beautiful, one owner condition with some minor chips – No cracks or repairs – See photos. Dolls & Bears Modern.
