We are not experts. We do try to describe the item down to the last detail. Vintage 1936 silvertone 4465 pyramid tombstone superheterodyne radio colonial. 16″ wide (at widest point) x 11 1/2″ deep (at deepest point) x 21 1/4 tall. Weighs 32 pounds before packing. It is a sears silvertone model 4465 with a #101410 chassis which means it was made by colonial radio (one of the two companies who made this radio for sears). According to the internet, the silvertone was first in the sears catalog in the fall of 1936 and was listed for $34.50 which in 2015 would equate to $582.58!!! This model was offered through the spring of 1937. This is a tombstone type radio or as collectors may refer to it as a pyramid style radio. Beautiful radio with an over-sized dial featuring a nautical sunset / sunrise decor and has the magic eye tuning indicator. This model is in todays market, sort after and highly collectible but rarely found on the market! This radio can be found in the mark stein’s “silvertone catalogs 1930-1942″. The sets made by colonial radio like this one tune standard broadcast from 540 – 1800kcs. This is a 3 band, 8 tube superheterodyne. The schematics for this radio are available online. 101.410, having tube line-up 6k7g (rf amp), 6l7g (mixer), 6c5g. (local oscillator), 6k7g (if amp), 6q7g 2nd-detector/avc/1st af. Position selectivity control switch that adjusts the 1st if transformer. Bandwidth (maximum fidelity range is 50-5000hz). There are 5 knobs, one of which is missing as you can see in the photos. Some of the screws in the back are missing or not the correct ones. I have no idea to be honest what parts are original but it all looks to be but that is only my opinion. The face cover on the front is a little loose. Definitely needs a new cord at least so it is untested but heck…. Might fire up with a new cord but not sure and as always, we suggest having old electronics checked by a professional before use. There appears to be a tear in the face at the bottom and the speaker appears to be pretty much no good as well. Again, all this being said, this is a great chance for a serious restoration person to fix this beauty up and bring her back to life!! I really wish i knew how to restore it, would be a great investment, if you check the internet, fixed up this beauty sells for $800.00 and up!!
