VINTAGE 1930 /’40′s MACHINE AGE KRISTAL-LITE RADIO LAMP WOW

VINTAGE 1930 /'40's MACHINE AGE KRISTAL-LITE RADIO LAMP WOW

The paper tag on the bottom states that this was made by Hal. Of Salt Lake City, Utah. The metal tag states that it was manufactured by the Mission Bell Radio Co. Of Los Angeles, Calif. I’ve been told that they made two versions of this radio and this is the harder of the two to find for what that is worth! The square base is copper. I believe the ball radio portion is chrome. Judging from the color of the bottom of the base, the top had been polished at some point and as you can see in the photos it is beginning to change color from fingerprints. There are a couple of very small dents on one side at the bottom. Other than that it is good – no cracks or breaks. It has its four original rubber feet, but it wobbles because one of them is smashed more that the other three. It is the one with the chip in it (see photo of bottom). Two of the screws holding the plate to the bottom are missing and I don’t believe the other two are original. The round chrome cabinet has some very small areas back by the speaker that are a little rough. You can feel it better than you can see it. That is how small they are. I took a picture of two of the larger areas that are on the bottom side of the ball towards the base. You can’t see them when displayed. It has a two small dents, one in the front and one in the back, The grill to the speaker looks very nice. The base and the bottom have the typical light surface scratches as well. The bakelite knobs are in excellent condition. The dial knob is tight and does not move the dial easily so it will need some attention. Both dial belts are present and I can move the dial with my fingers. The dial itself looks to be good from what I can see of it without physically tearing this apart. The power cord and antenna wire have been replaced (not by me). The shade has a look of a copper colored mica and the finial is brass. With all that being said, it is a striking radio and it would stand out in your collection! I don’t claim to be an expert on these so PLEASE review the photos as they supercede the description. If you need more close-ups we will be happy to oblige. It will be packed with styrofoam and a heavy duty box. I will box the shade separately, but will be sent in the same box as the radio.
