This radio has been sitting in my shop for some time. When we received it with no cord. I did remove the chassis and cleaned the inside but that is as far as I got. It does have all its tubes and everything looks decent cosmetically. We honestly never had a chance to hook this up to a Variac to test it so I have no idea what works and what doesn’t. There are no chips or cracks in the cabinet. The clock dome glass is not cracked. The speaker looks nice from the back with no rips that i can see. Some of the knobs I don’t think are original but they look right on the radio. This is, at least a very nice display piece but I don’t see why, with a little work that it could be fixed. Please look at the pictures closely and judge the condition, size and content of this lot for yourself as our photos are a large portion of our description. If it is not shown in the pictures it is most likely not included in the listing. From radio collectors estate , plugged in got static, controls very dirty, jumpy, played with controls got a station , then another, seems like some flutter , but seems to be from dirty controls…. But I think not bad considering. Of course with old electronics, could need a cap or a tube, but a real good starting point. No cracks at all in cabinet. Is missing a small clock knob. The clock runs, did not see if it keeps proper time. So a pretty decent radio, but needs a tech to go over. The cord is good. Cool design, good cosmetics, just needs gone over by a tech, not a plug in and play unit. Big and bold, this radio may be overdecorated to some tastes, but you can’t deny that it makes a real statement. There’s a lot going on on this design. From a distance, its big round dials make it look like a wacky space alien whose left eye is winking. Please see all pictures and use zoom feature. Here we have a mid century modern Zenith tube clock radio. The clock and radio both work. However on the radio the selector string needs to be replaced. We also recommend replacing the chord. Measures approximately 15-3/8″ in length, 7-1/2″ tall and 7-1/2 wide. Has a great mid century mod look! Here is some information we found at the radio museum. United States of America (USA). Category: Broadcast Receiver – or past WW2 Tuner. 7: 12BA6 12AT7 12BA6 12BA6 12AU6 19T8 35C5. Superhet with RF-stage; ZF/IF 455/10700 kHz; 2 AF stage(s). Broadcast (BC) and FM or UHF. Power type and voltage. Alternating Current supply (AC) / 60 cycles, 117V = 110 -120 Volt. Permanent Magnet Dynamic (PDyn) Loudspeaker (moving coil) / Ø 5.25 inch = 13.3 cm. Model: X733Y Ch= 7X03 – Zenith Radio Corp. Modern plastics (no Bakelite or Catalin). Tablemodel with Clock (Alarm-) Clock Radio. 15.5 x 7.5 x 7.5 inch / 394 x 191 x 191 mm. The Zenith family X733 has been made with and without clock. This we state according to Beitman Volume R-16, where you find the words: The Material below and on the adjacent page at right is exact for Model T723, Chassis 7T04. This material also may be used for servicing Models T724, Y724G, R, W; Y723-G, R, W, Chassis 7T02, 7Y02, 7Y04, which are similar; Models X733G, R, Y; Y733G, Y, R, Chassis 7X03 and 7Y03, are also very similar. The section Diagram for chassis 7X03 with measures for a clock is for the models X733G, X733Rand X733Y. SAMS Photofact shows three same looking families, the X733, the Y733 and the Z733, all with alarm clock and only the picture shows little differences between each other: Y See SAMS set 339, folder 17, Dec. 1956 indicates the 3 knob functions for the clock within the Dial, Y not, but both have a sleep function (top knob), Z733 See SAMS set 339, folder 17, Dec. 1956 misses this top knob and probably the sleep function. The SAMS index refers to the same document as for Y and lists Z733G, Z733R and Z733Y (chassis 7Y03Z) but the pages do not show any trace of a Z. We may believe that it is the same model without sleep function – for a cheaper price. The suffixes G (light gray), R (brownish red) and Y (black) are used for the colors. This radio works beautifully with reception of FM stations coming in loud and clear across the band. I don’t know why. I set the clock, let it run for a week, and can report complete accuracy with no noise. The additional clock functions of wake-up with radio, sleep control for up to 60 minutes of radio followed by radio turn off, and the powered socket at the back for powering up some morning appliance with wake-up (coffee perhaps) all work. The wake-up with buzzer has no buzzer – the radio comes on as it does with wake-up with radio. The heavy maroon plastic cabinet has no cracks, chips, or noteworthy scratches. The two clock knobs are identical to the original controls but in white. As these match the color of the’Saturn’ tuning dial, I think it works beautifully. Note the Civil Defense CD markings on the dial. The Zenith brass badge has been polished to bring back the shine and then protected with clear lacquer to preserve the glow. And the small red jewel above the radio dial face glows nicely in the dark when the radio is playing. The power cord and plug are original and in great shape. The back panel is complete and in place and the original label is on the bottom. The electronics are all original parts. Given the remarkable performance of the radio, I couldn’t see messing with the circuitry. I did pull and clean the seven tubes and check them on my Hickok tube tester to confirm that they all met or exceeded the specifications. The speaker is in excellent condition, delivering sweet sound with superb volume and tone. Don’t let this beauty slip away to that other guy.. I think that this clock radio is such a charmer that I did a short YouTube video to show it performing. I do say the buzzer works. I’m wrong – it does not. The radio measures about 15″ W x 7″ H x 8 D and weighs about 8 lbs. Please check my feedback for the remarks from my many valued customers.
