Unfortunately the tuning dial string is broken, so it will need to be replaced in order to tune in stations with the knob. The finish on the radio is all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. The power cord is in excellent condition. Welcome To JNS Vintage Radios and Tubes. A beautiful table radio. The chassis was removed and sent our technician for a rebuild. The chassis received new modern caps. The resistors where checked, replacing those that were shown to be out of spec. Tubes were tested replacing the 14B6 and the 7A8. All tubes test 85% or better. A new dial light was installed along with a new dial cover and line cord. A spot-on alignment tops off this chassis rebuild. The chassis tunes in local and farther away stations with ease. The case was refinished in Antique White. No cracks or deep scratches. No back cover available as they usually don’t survive the years. All tube testers are not created equal, and your tester may have a higher or lower reading than our equipment. All antique and vintage radios are cleaned and tested where possible. We provide an accurate description of the condition within the listing. Each radio is wrapped in bubble wrap, packed with peanuts and when necessary, squares of Styrofoam are used to protect glass dials, knobs and switches. We now offer restored radios/chassis by Mike’s Radio Restorations here in the Sierra. Hard to find Silvertone Model 1708 World’s Fair Tombstone Radio that is in good working condition. The finish on the radio is all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. The veneer on the bottom right and left sides are separating from the body, but this can easily be addressed with some glue. From a distance the defect is not noticeable. All of the knobs turn smoothly and properly and the dial indicator functions properly as well. The grill cloth is in excellent condition and the cloth power cord is also in exceptional condition. Very desireable radio that has great Art Deco lines. The metal inlay makes this radio stand out. Do not hesitate to make an offer, all will be considered.
