Approx 19″ x 15″ x 12. Tested and partially working. Great, clean restoration candidate for this rare piece. Powers on, platter spins, and I can hear sound when turning the volume knob. So I think the tube amp is working, at least partially-tubes light up. Amp making loud noise when knobs turned. Plastic face plate on front is not attached. 2 knob/buttons are missing and 1 tone/volume knob is missing. Very clean example with normal age and wear, light scratches, dings, finish wear, etc. Check out the pictures! The pictures always best describe the item. It will be carefully packaged. We truly care about having great customer service. The item “Wilcox Gay Recordio 6B30 AM Radio/Record Booth Lathe Player VTG Tube Amp” is in sale since Thursday, April 2, 2020. Vintage Wilcox Gay Am/sw Tube Radio Receiver Rare Teledial Tuning Knob Art Deco
vintage
Comments Off
This tube radio features a sought after tuning dial that mimics the style and function of a rotary telephone dialer from older telephone sets – the teledial. This radio also features Art Deco design of the cabinet, popular of the time period and its original power cord. The wood is in excellent condition on this cabinet with no serious flaws such as splitting or warping. Despite some light minor scuffing on the edges, the veneer is in great shape! There are some light punctures in the speaker fabric. The tuning dial and knobs do function and move freely, however the teledial does slip when tuning stations. When plugged in and switched on, this radio plays intermittently with the speaker cutting in and out. It is being listed AS-IS. This item won’t last long because of its rarity, make it yours today! The American Walnut cabinet is simply stunning. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set with an eye catching matched butt slant grain on the front. Dark walnut grooves on the top front and sides of the cabinet compliment the grooved inlays that grace the front. A large Art Deco grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the large speaker. Youll be the envy of all with this masterpiece proudly displayed in any room of your home or office. Attractive back lit dial is a real head turner. It is illuminated by two dial lamps and lights very bright. It features an ivory background with black and green letters and numbers. A very unique design is located in the center of the dial featuring an organ player, playing in front of organ tubes, while a star casts a beam of light on him. The Wilcox Gay logo is just below. All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show very little signs of wear. The dial glass is clear and free from any chips, breaks, or cracks. The surrounding brass escutcheon shines nicely and adds an elegant touch. All four knobs are perfect and control the following; tuning, band switch, tone, and on/off & volume. The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a classic gold color with herringbone design. All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. With the included copper line antenna the radio plays exceptionally well. The Cabinets Finish & Restoration Process. Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. During the restoration process on this radio some veneer chips in the top grooved area were repaired. All have been filled, secured, and/or blended and does not detract from the beauty of the set. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. 12 3/4W x 17H x 7 1/2D.
