Don’t miss this opportunity to add this Detrola 571 to your collection. COLLECTORS – HERE’S YOUR CHANCE! Detrola was founded in 1931 in Detroit Michigan. Detrola began radio production by 1932. Like many other radio manufacturers Detrola had remote suppliers and furniture makers it used for cabinets. One of them was Michigan based, Wolverine and another one was Caswell-Runyan in Huntington, Indiana. The latter was later bought by Detrola. Detrola built radios under a variety of private brand names as well as under their own moniker. Up to 90% of radio production was for private brand names. Detrola laid claim to having one of the worlds largest output of radios by the middle 1930′s. Some estimates claim their production may have been the 6. The company merged with International Machine Tool, INC. During World War 2 resulting in a big conglomerate that was involved in many fields including building military equipment for the war effort. The new name of the company became International Detrola. Sadly, with increasing competition from mass market radio manufactures such as Philco, RCA, & Zenith, it was difficult to compete and the Detrola radio assembly lines fell silent by 1948. During their short run, they made quite an impact and made a lot of radios. Today, Detrola radios are some of the most sought after antique radios by collectors – coveted for their unique Art Deco designs and due to their scarcity. Working examples are quite rare. Dimensions are 12.5″ in length X 8″ high X 6 in depth. I use plenty of Bubble Wrap, extra padding and double box or use extra box support material. It will be marked Fragile & This side up on the box to make sure it is handled carefully. The radio is fully insured. A small sampling of my feedback. Best packaging ever for a vintage radio – I really appreciate it. Fantastic radio as advertised, careful and thoughtful packaging. If there are any problems, please contact me and we can review options.
