Rare RCA Victor Broadcast Receiver or WW2 Tuner. Super Heterodyne Model A-1 manufactured by RCA Victor International in 1939/1940 Montreal Canada. Number of Tubes 5. Main Principle Superheterodyne (common); ZF/IF 455 Hz. Wave Bands Broadcast and Short Wave (SW). SW 5600 – 20000 Kilocycles. Power Type AC 105-125 Volt. Loudspeaker Permanent Magnet (PDyn) Loudspeaker (moving coil). Shape Tabletop model with Push Buttons. Dimensions (WHD) 15 x 9 x 7 inches / 381 x 229 x 178 mm. The three-tone wooden cabinet has what appears to be plant pot markings to its finish on top and a few small markings around the case. The black painted trim around top and bottom edges is chipped and largely fallen away. All four original bakelite knobs are present and five original bakelite pushbuttons, one pushbutton is missing. The pushbuttons, a rare form of automatic tuning for user selected stations, a novel design. The tuning tapes for these pushbuttons are broken but repairable. The four knobs control (1) On / off & Volume (2) point tone control (3) band selector (4) tuning. There is an appliance plug e. For a phonograph on the back with a Records or television selector switch. An auxiliary power receptacle is also located on the back side. This RCA Victor radio with standard. Broadcast and shortwave frequencies has a new 11 foot power cord installed. Not able to receive short wave stations at current location, no antenna connected. Don’t miss out on this unique piece of history, This Antique Vintage 1942 RCA Victor Model 28X Radio powers on and looks great and looks to have all original components with no upgrades. It is missing one knob on the front and the knob furthest to the left isn’t the same as the other knobs. This radio has a beautiful wood cabinet in fairly good condition- some minor crazing on clear coat finish, and some minor chips but nowhere is this radio’s wood cabinet cracked or broken except front wood grill work upper left has small crack. Measures approximately 15″ x 10.75″ x 9.5 and weighs about 13 lbs. This table top antique RCA does power on, lights turn on, tuning dial works, volume comes from speaker. The reception is static but seems like it would get a station in a more city region. Cabinet is in beautifully original condition. The dial dash is all original and in really nice and illuminates with small light bulbs inside cabinet on each end. This is a radio that would be a wonderful addition to any collection a very nostalgic display radio that you can use and admire Would make an amazing and unique gift! If you have questions please ask- The interior is somewhat dusty and looks to be all original so it may certainly need some electronic restoration as it doesn’t look likes it’s been touched.
