What does everyone’s baseball collection need? This vintage Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris radio of course. Here is an awesome collectible radio with the figure of a baseball player on the front. This is a small sized vintage tube radio measuring just 7 inches X 5 1/4 inches X 4 1/2 inches with the knobs. The cabinet with original finish is in great shape showing only very minimal wear and still holds a nice shine. The dial with a tuning knob shape like a baseball bat are in great shape. The on/off volume knob is shaped like a baseball diamond is also in great shape. The back is in good shape. There is a mark on the top of the radio as pictured. There is also some wear around the on/off knob as pictured. None of this distracts from the beauty of this very collectible radio. The chassis has been repaired and plays great. The radio plays great picking up several local stations with great volume. This a beautiful and well cared for radio. It needs nothing but a new home. This a radio needs played and displayed. This is a beautiful little radio. I cannot find much information on the name Raola. There is a metal tag on the back that says Radio corporation of America, General electric company, Westinghouse electric and mfg company. The speaker says Rola. It is 11 inches wide and 15 inches tall. I cant get any shortwave and not sure if the band Knob works. It doesn’t seem to make any difference when I turn it. It says police and shortwave in the dial window but I have heard that a lot of times they use the same dial for all even if they dont have SW. Excellent condition and plays well with no hum. I bought a collection of radios, radio parts and testing equipment from the widow of a long time collector. Most of his radios and testers worked. Some I do not know how to test and I will tell you so in my listings. Please see my other auctions and follow me as i sell this collection. Description: Philco Model 38-15 Art Deco Wood Table Radio. ITEM: Philco Model 38-15 Wood Table Radio. It was manufactured c. 1938 in Philadelphia PA. It was designed to operate using standard 110v household current. This is a nice looking pre-war radio. The gold dial survives in great condition. There is no paint loss on the dial. The grill cloth has been replaced with a historically accurate reproduction. Felt pads on the radios bottom protect what the radio is set upon. New knob felts installed behind the three original bakelite knobs protect the radios finish. The original back is missing, if there ever was one. The cabinet was refinished using wood filler, stain, toner lacquer, and several coats of wiped on finish. The contrasting veneer along the bottom and across the top from front to back sets off nicely the art deco styling of the cabinet. The five tube chassis is free from any rust. The power cord is a new, flexible replacement. The three original brown bakelite knobs operate as they should. The volume control is a bit scratchy when adjusting the volume. Extending the long wire antenna will improve reception. This radio and all vintage radios that have survived well past their intended life span should be played sparingly, and should not be left playing unattended.
