UNBUILT Knight BROADCASTER vintage vacuum tube AM radio transmitter repro kit

Reproduction Knight Broadcaster kit. This listing has multiple photos, scroll down to see them all. Kit does not include vacuum tubes, see text below. NOTE: We are only producing individual kits due to vintage part shortages. A revision has also been done to the kit, incorporating the improvements below. Side panels are now fabricated from the same high quality fiberglass PC board material, as the top, front and back panels. These are more rigid parts, and a better color match to the other panels. Pre-drilled side and bottom plates, no hole drilling necessary. Improved rear panel AC layout and easier wiring. Kit now includes a BONUS audio input board! The Knight Broadcaster was meant to be used with low level microphone inputs. High level signals will distort the output, unless the input is attenuated. To ease this problem, as well as improve connectivity to audio sources, we have designed an accessory input control board. The kit includes a small 2-3/8 x 2-3/8 PC board (same blue color), to allow easy connection of bare wire, RCA, or 3.5mm jack inputs! The board also features a potentiometer level control, AND isolation transformer, if you experience hum problems. See new photos near the end of the listing. This is a reproduction kit of the Knight Broadcaster – Amplifier. The kit also functions as an audio PA (Public Address) style amplifier, and has connections you can hook up a loudspeaker too. The kit is electrical equivalent to the original, with several minor changes. Our design includes a brand new, high quality, Triad isolation transformer. Appropriate changes has been made for mounting the transformer on the back, and for internal wiring. We have replaced the selenium rectifier with a modern diode. The kit comes with a prewound oscillator coil. As shown in the internal wiring photo, modern filter capacitors, smaller rectifier diode and oscillator coil, give easier and increased assembly and working room! To keeps costs as low as possible, the kit does NOT come with tubes. The circuit uses common tubes you may already have. The remaining tube is a 12AX7, probably the most common preamplifier tube in the world. We have gone to great effort, time and expense to acquire vintage style components , like those used in the original design. As shown in the parts photos, the kit currently uses vintage parts, including carbon composition resistors (may be vintage or modern manufacture), phenolic wafer tube sockets, vintage terminal strips, and a vintage compression tuner capacitor. As time progresses on, these parts become harder and harder to find, and at some point may be replaced with modern equivalents. Until otherwise noted, the kit will come with the vintage parts just mentioned. The prototype in the photos used a couple carbon film resistors, but kits will come with al carbon composition resistors, with the exception of several safety metal oxide resistors where applicable. The kit now uses black oxide screws to assemble the panels, instead of the costly blue screws shown in the photos. Style of output transformer may vary. NOTE: This kit requires good electrical and mechanical building skills, and is recommended for advanced builders. Some mechanical modifications are required, such as cutting the metal potentiometer shaft to the correct length, enlarging the tube sockets holes, etc. The kit is constructed with individual fiberglass panels for the top, front, back and sides. These are fiberglass printed circuit boards, with high durability lettering. The bottom panel is an acrylic or similar plastic material, it’s color may vary or be clear. The parts are connected by plastic brackets and screws, as you can see in the internal view photo. The original manual and addendum assembly notes are supplied as JPG and RTF files on a CD-R respectively. Note we do not supply copies of manuals. The kit is only for sale people with experience building and operated line powered devices. The kit must be operated under FCC Part 15 regulations at all times. This unit must only be operated with the supplied line isolation transformer. Not for sale to, or use by minors. It is assumed that the unit(s) will be installed and operated by qualified personnel. See our other listings for more Radio, Electronic and other RARE and UNIQUE items. NOTE : The flat and reflective surfaces cause some reflections in the photos. Vertical’lines’ on the front panel are reflections from the corrugated cardboard the unit was photographed on. As shown in above photo, kit does not come with vacuum tubes, see listing description. With fiberglass panels and stainless steel hardware, your kit will look good for many years! Kit now features black oxide panel connecting screws, not blue screws shown in photos. Modern filter capacitors, rectifier diode and smaller coil, give increased working room. Kit now uses PC mount RCA jacks, see text. Brand new in box isolation transformer. CD-R with original manual scans, and addendum assembly file. Accessory input control board now included with kit. Board can easily mount to panels if desired, see above and below photos. See our other listings, for our much lower cost, miniature tube transmitter. ARGON Power Supply UNBUILT KIT vintage VACUUM TUBE rectifier radio electronic PS

ARGON Power Supply UNBUILT KIT vintage VACUUM TUBE rectifier radio electronic PS

Unassembled ARGON Vacuum Tube Rectifier Power Supply Kit. Another Pirate Pete Electronics Exclusive , available nowhere else! LIMITED production kit , available only as long as our tube stock lasts. Watch our product video here. This is a very interesting and unique electronic project kit. You construct a power supply, featuring a low-voltage,’purple glow’, Argon gas vacuum rectifier tube! The vacuum tube serves as the actual AC to DC rectifier in the circuit. The more current the circuit draws, the brighter the purple glow from the tube! The kit also teaches basic regulated power supply design as explained below. In order to keep costs as low as possible, the kit comes with a 350mA power transformer. This transformer supplies a nominal unloaded voltage of 19 volts DC. With a 220mA load, the output voltage is 15.4 volts. With a 350mA load, the output voltage is 12.1 volts. See our other listings for a higher power 96VA (watt) transformer, for higher output voltage and current. Maximum recommended output is 2 amps. Complete kit with all necessary parts, including case, two power transformers, hardware, and all necessary components for one LM317 adjustable voltage regulator, to provide a regulated variable output. Kit features printed circuit construction. Circuit board has provisions for two LM317 regulator circuits, a 78XX series 3-terminal fixed regulator, and a discrete zener diode – transistor regulated supply, to teach and demonstrate basic power supply theory. Case comes with predrilled hole for vacuum tube mounting, and all hardware necessary. User must drill small holes as necessary. Instructions are supplied on a CD-R. We have never experienced a tube failure in our design and testing development. The tube has no part number or markings. Kit requires moderate electronics assembly skill, not for beginners. Not for sale to, or use by minors. Unlimited uses, excellent for model railroad use. Connect it to a load resistor, and just use it for a fascinating conversation piece. See our other listings for a LOW COST basic version (tube, PC board and components only). For a limited time, we are including a digital Volt – Amp readout display for free. This will display voltage and current output, see photo. It is assumed that the unit(s) will be installed and operated by qualified personnel. Not for sale to minors. See our other listings for more Radio, Electronic and other RARE and UNIQUE items. High quality Pactec case. Kit includes all parts. Boxed and tested rectifier tube. Tube has no part number or markings. The actual tube glow is more purple than the purple/white color picked up by the camera, and the filament is visible through the purple gas glow! Large top hole for tube socket pre-drilled. Tube socket can be directly mounted to board. Kit comes with one LM317 regulator circuit as shown above. Board has provision for four regulator circuits, including a classic, discrete diode transistor circuit, to teach voltage regulator theory. Kit currently comes with BONUS digital Volt Amp meter. UNBUILT Knight RANGER vintage vacuum 5 tube AM radio receiver electronic kit set

UNBUILT Knight RANGER vintage vacuum 5 tube AM radio receiver electronic kit set

Listing has multiple photos, scroll down to see them all. This was a working Knight Ranger radio, that we disassembled and refurbished back to its original kit form. The parts were carefully removed, and all applicable components were cleaned. But have NEVER listed a Knight Ranger before! The kit comes with a COMPLETE set of new and NOS (New Old Stock) carbon composition resistors, and a COMPLETE new capacitor set. You are building the kit with a new set of parts, just like the original! The original capacitors were salvageable, and are also included, see appropriate photo. The case, chassis, and several other components were immersion cleaned. Overall, the case is in above average cosmetic condition, compared to several other units we have seen. It has two major cracks and sections missing on the back corners, see photos. Since these are on the back, they are not very noticeable. The case also has typical wear and marks you would expect. The case had some cosmetic work done on it (marker touch-up), because this work was removed when cleaned. You can see the difference in the before and after photos. The case could obviously be touched up again. The dial faceplate has some fading to it. The speaker grill has some discoloration, but only where it was not covered by the grill, so you don’t’notice it’. The manual is a photocopy. The manual is only four pages long, and NOT detailed step-by-step assembly like other kits. It includes a parts list, wiring diagram, schematic and assembly / operating notes. This kit is recommended for the advanced builder. The radio was in operating condition before disassembly, but no guaranties can be made to its operation after it is reassembled. It is assumed that the unit(s) will be installed and operated by qualified personnel. Not for sale to minors. See our other listings for more Radio, Electronic and other RARE and UNIQUE items. Radio before refurbishing, with camera flash. Radio before refurbishing, without camera flash. Immersion cleaned chassis and complete RCA tube set. Tube socket are riveted in place. UNBUILT Knight BROADCASTER vintage vacuum tube AM radio transmitter repro kit

UNBUILT Knight BROADCASTER vintage vacuum tube AM radio transmitter repro kit

Reproduction Knight Broadcaster kit. This listing has multiple photos, scroll down to see them all. As stated in the details below, the kit does NOT come with vacuum tubes. As shown in the parts photos, the kit currently uses vintage parts, including carbon composition resistors (may be vintage or modern manufacture), phenolic wafer tube sockets, phenolic RCA jacks, vintage terminal strips, and a vintage compression tuner capacitor. As time progresses on, these parts become harder and harder to find, and at some point may be replaced with modern equivalents. Until otherwise noted, the kit will come with the vintage parts just mentioned. The prototype in the photos used a couple carbon film resistors, but kits will come with ALL carbon composition resistors. NOTE: This kit requires good electrical and mechanical building skills, and is recommended for advanced builders. Some mechanical modifications are required, such as cutting the metal potentiometer shaft to the correct length, enlarging some holes, etc.. Some simple hole drilling to the bottom and side panels is also required. Being a first generation kit, some simple modification to parts is also necessary, such as modifying a couple of the plastic panel assembly brackets. The kit is constructed with individual fiberglass and plastic panels. The top, front and back panels of the kit are fiberglass printed circuit boards, with high durability lettering. The bottom and side panels are plastic (acrylic or similar), material. Their is a slight hue difference between the fiberglass and plastic parts. The parts are connected by plastic brackets and screws, as you can see in the internal view photo. Special blue screws are used to join the pieces together. The original manual is supplied as JPG scans on a CD-R. Vertical’lines’ on the front panel are reflections from the corrugated cardboard.
