Manufactured by Air King radio, out of Brooklyn, NY, this beauty features a stunning American Walnut cabinet, attractive gold dial, bright green magic tuning eye, great Art Deco appeal, and outstanding performance. The American Walnut cabinet is quite breathtaking. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. The waterfall top design reminds you of the great Art Deco styling so famous from that era. It all comes together magnificently when powered up and the gold dial illuminates along with a bright green tuning eye’looking’ down from above. A large Art Deco grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. The jet black trim, that surrounds the dial and eye tube, adds the perfect contrast. The shiny Premier name plate finishes the cabinet off with style and class. This rare beauty is sure to be the highlight of any room in the home or office you choose to display it in. The brightly lit gold dial is quite attractive. It features a gold background with black letters and numbers. The center art work features a world globe and cloud with an arching radio tower below. Above the dial is a bright green tuning eye which opens and closes with signal strength. Quite an impressive sight! All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show little signs of wear. The shiny brass escutcheon surrounding the magic eye adds an elegant touch. The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a whiskey gold. Color with a black Art Deco geometric design. All tubes in 7 tube (including eye tube) chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The Cabinets Finish & Restoration Process. Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. 16 3/4W x 10 1/4H x 7D.
