To view our other auctions including additional restored antique radios, grill cloth, and supplies. Here we have the highly sought after 1936 Silvertone model 4565. Cabinet: The American Walnut cabinet is simply stunning. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set with an eye catching swirled burl on the front. Its unique trapezoid design reminds you of the quality craftsmanship so evident from the Art Deco era. The large grill is positioned on each side of the dial which is something you rarely see on radios from this time period. A tiger striped inlay runs across the bottom front of the cabinet complimented by grooved stripes on the sides. It all comes together magnificently when powered up and the gold dial illuminates along with a bright green magic tuning eye looking down from above. What a spectacular sight! Jet black trim and the original wood back finish the cabinet off with the utmost elegance and style. You’ll be the envy of all with this masterpiece proudly displayed in any room of your home or office. Dial: Silvertone’s famous gold sunburst dial is one of the finest dials any radio has to offer. The metal dial features a gold background with black numbers and letters. The center art work depicts a sun rising over the ocean with stars and the Silvertone logo. Two dial lamps illuminate the dial and a new, bright green magic tuning eye is positioned at the top. The tuning eye is very sensitive and opens & closes indicating signal strength. All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show very little signs of wear. The dial glass is clear and free from any chips, breaks or cracks. Grill Cloth: The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a classic gold color with a herringbone design. Chassis: All tubes in the powerful 8 tube (including eye tube) chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The Cabinets Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. Dimensions: 20 3/4″ W x 13 1/2 H x 10 1/2″ D. I sell quality antique radios and describe them accurately, as can be confirmed with my outstanding feedback. My radios are expertly packed using oversized boxes, many layers of bubble wrap, and several inches of packing material surrounding each side of the radio so you can be assured they arrive safely. If your radio arrives and does not work please let us know. We will gladly walk you through the process of troubleshooting to get it started. The tubes, capacitors, resistors, and filters. However, if at any time these parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing the defective part at minimal cost. Finally, in very rare instances, if there is. If that is the case with your country, you assume the risk of any damage or undelivered package. Antique tube radio reception can differ greatly depending on location, length of antenna, and amount of interference in different areas. Playing capability is accurately described based on my location, surroundings, and hooked up to a 12 copper line antenna. The antenna will be included with the sale but I cannot guarantee reception quality in your area. It may differ (better or worse) depending on your location, surroundings, and interference. Antique Radio Electronics, whether restored or un-restored, are by nature hazardous due to their voltage, design and age. Any operation, repairs or other adjustments are done at your own risk. Grill Cloth: The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring an antique gold color with a herringbone design. Chassis: All tubes in the 7 tube (including eye) chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. It has been filled, secured and blended and does not detract from the beauty of the set. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. An eye catching burl inlay runs through the center front and sides of the cabinet trimmed with blonde pinstripes. The large solid wood grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. It all comes together perfectly when powered up and the attractive gold dial lights up along with a bright green magic tuning eye right in the center. Quite an impressive sight! Dark walnut tones and jet black trim finish the cabinet off perfectly. You’ll be the envy of all with this masterpiece proudly displayed in any room of your home or office. The gemlite gold dial is quite the attention getter. With it’s curved design and pushbuttons below it is very reminiscent of car dashboard instrument panels from the same era. The dial is illuminated by two dial lamps and features a new bright green tuning eye right in the center. All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show very little signs of wear. All pushbuttons are functional but will need to be set to the new owners local stations if used. All five knobs control the following; variable tone control, manual tuning, band switch, on/off & phono, and volume control. The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a. Gold color with a herringbone design. All tubes in the powerful 8 tube (including eye tube) chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. With the included copper line antenna reception is even stronger, picking up stations near and far, including stations all over the world on the 4 shortwave bands. The radio produces deep rich tone, sensitive reception, and room filling volume with a console like sound. The Cabinets Finish & Restoration Process. Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. 22 1/2W x 12 1/2H x 11D.
